One rule for one volenteer and one for another came to volunteer here and told them I have medical issues, I can do till and small tidy round that’s it female manager said that’s perfect as another volunteer does the same she sits down at till and serves customers and then tidies when no one needs served but soon as I ask to do that again after stating on first day of registering for volunteering they asked me to do pricing holding a heavy tablet and a ticket printer on my wrists for an hour then a 10 mins break and start again. Male manager was told of my disabilities yet still expected me to do things I can’t do. Female manager didn’t tell me about how the shops run each bhf is run different how they display clothes ect I got told what I was doing was wrong. I wasn’t shown where the seat was from day one. There isn’t anywhere to sit at the kitchen area when staff are steaming disability accessible toilet gets blocked by clothes rail and steamer if we want to sit we have to go out in the hallway where the lockers are there’s a small accessible hallway into the back but it has trip hazards all over. Female manager went home early left male manger to show me the ropes and he didn’t do much was meant to sort my badge out but he didn’t bother on day one not much support at all. And when I ask for what I asked for at beginning of volunteering I get told no such thing can happen. I’m sure the one volunteer only sits at till only they don’t tidy as she stated this on day one so she’s lying through her back teeth won’t come here again. They expect too much off volenteers who have medical needs I would be giving one star to the fact it’s bhf nothing else
Manager cheats people who have disabilities and the vulnerable. He is a danger to women and children as I have experienced first hand.
i come to volunteer for the british heart foundation in march this year when i was made redundant,i finally found a job and still kept on my volunteer work on as i love it so much and the staff are amazing, they make you feel like family and never force you to do what you didnt want to do,they give you tasks but if you wernt up to it they would nt force you to do it,never grumble if my work ties with my days in volunteering,i do 3 and a half hours and i still get a break!!!they provide chairs to sit on ,snacks and drinks i mean which places do that!!!, its hard working for the guys in the back the bosses work so hard behind the scenesbut always have time for you and never a bad word about anyone as there just grateful for peoples help, Alot of people complain about prices refunds etc,its charity!!! i think people forget this!!!
In the date of 8th July 2021, I tried to return or exchange an item which I have purchased only before a day, the shop manager was unreasonable and semi-tough dealing with me, the issue was simple, I don't have the receipt, he refused to return the item with a loud tone and he said: “ This is the policy “! He put me in shame situation in front of the other customers, and just to save my dignity I told him very polite and quietly “ okay take the item as a donation to British heart” Yes, it's a donation entity, I agree and well known for anyone in the UK, at least the shop manager should have some facilities in such small cases, no one likes to break the rules, but the manager must be a wise person and have a big heart to be capable for British Heart Association
Great store and staff are terrific. Friendly atmosphere and welcoming nature.
