Really good experience with them and like a couple of people below I wanted to leave a review especially given some slightly unreasonable lower ratings. Many of these seem to be orders at the last minute before Christmas when there were also postal strikes; so no retailer was able to guarantee deliveries and shouldn't have been expected to. For my own experience - I emailed for information about a ski helmet as it was the best price I could find from any retailer, and got a same-day, helpful response. I placed the order and received the item the same week, quicker than I expected. Everything was perfect, and I'd recommend them!
I’ve used the LD Mountain Centre for years and have never had a bad experience. The staff in the shop are knowledgeable, extremely helpful and offer sound advice; they don’t make you buy something you don’t need, even if it means you’d end up spending less money in store. I’ve read some of the negative reviews on Google and they’re all rather unfair. For example, if you’re going to purchase a gift and want it in time for Christmas, maybe purchase it sooner than three days beforehand the review was written 22/12/22 so I’m assuming that’s when the reviewer ordered. Most websites suggest you order at least a week before if you want guaranteed Christmas delivery. Those of you saying you should’ve taken notice of negative reviews, should perhaps have done a little more research. Yes, LD have a on-line store - what choice do they have in the current market - but, this is a one shop, small business which doesn’t run on the same basis as chains like Go Outdoors or The North Face. You simply cannot expect the same speed of on-line service as you would with a much larger business; It’s the staff in the shop you’ll be speaking to when you call not a huge customer service team. What if they are serving other customers who are actually in the shop? Have you thought of that? These reviews are just another example of the fact many people won’t wait for anything anymore. Personally, I’d rather wait longer for an order and support a small business. LD Mountain Centre do use Royal Mail - they aren’t lying. My Mum’s order which she placed on 27/12/22 is arriving today 29/12/22 via Royal Mail. Note the two day delivery folks! As for moaning about hiking boots not fitting and needing to return them, use your common sense; you need to physically go to a shop to buy hiking boots. Why? You need an expert like those you’ll find at the LD Mountain Centre to help you decide which are best for you and if they fit properly. You don’t want blisters do you? Posted this by means of reply seeing as you can’t vote down or reply to unhelpful reviews.
I wanted to write / post a review having read some of the earlier negative reviews that have been posted. Ultimately, It is an informed decision as to whether or not you would wish to purchase an item from this seller. I purchased a Mountain Equipment Annapurna Jacket, which is quite a high ticket item. LD Mountain advertised the jacket at a good price compared to a number of other on line retailers; a saving of over £130.00. Prior to ordering, I also carried out some on line research, in particular the reviews that had been posted, such as Sasha from London that highlighted a number of concerns. However, I looked into the history of the company and the fact that LD Mountain was both well established with a permanent site / shop in Newcastle. Further the “negative” reviews appeared to me to mainly be concerned with a lack of communication from the Seller and a myriad of “IT” issues; whilst I might be mistaken no purchaser was suggesting that they had lost money save for the additional costs of returning items. I therefore placed the Order for the Jacket and received confirmation of the Order. I received an email on Wednesday from DPD the Courier that they were awaiting the item from the seller and would provide an update. I received confirmation from DPD that the item would be delivered today and the courier delivered the consignment within the allotted time that had been specified for delivery, before Xmas. The Item is in excellent condition. For those of you whom are still undecided or concerned as to whether or not to purchase an item from this Seller having read the earlier reviews, I hope that by sharing my experience in this review it might provide some balance. Seasons greetings.
Shop has pretty good stock and I've bought quite a lot from them, but service isnt good. Left skis for service 6 weeks ago. No call, text or any other comm from them, I tried a few times to phone, no pickup, message saying store closed when website says open and quiet. Used Snow & Rock previously, completely different experience with them, but no longer service skis. Very unlikely I'll go to LD again unless just a straight forward purchase from shop.
Placed an order, got worried about their processing times so cancelled the order and bought the item elsewhere as I wanted them for this coming weekend. No - I couldn't get through to them on the phone after numerous attempts Yes - they did reply to my emails, cancelled my order and refunded the near £200 amount back to my card within 4 days Overall, can't really fault the service but it would be nice to be able to speak with someone on the phone, wouldn't hesitate to visit the store in future but based on others' reviews, perhaps not online.
Really helpful, knowledgeable staff. Explained what I was after and the issues I’d had previously, and they had me kitted with the correct climbing shoes pretty much immediately and thankfully have a small wall to try them on!. They were more than happy for me to keep wearing at home and bring them back if they weren’t quite right.
I ordered 2 insulated women's jackets on Sunday and by Wednesday they had arrived. In fact the jackets arrived before the dispatch note email! Great service, great price and excellent customer service. I will use this company again.
In my mind, LD Mountain Centre had a great reputation… Ordered 7 days ago, no dispatch email since, not able to get through on phone line. Presents won’t arrive now in time for Christmas. Utter joke of a company - others I’ve ordered with have managed admirably despite the strikes from Royal Mail. Don’t order from LD Mountain Centre. I’ll be requesting a refund and buying elsewhere.
Bought some ski socks 3 weeks ago, online. No despatch to date, Cannot get through on the phone at all and have sent multiple mails to their customer service email with no response. Will be recouping my money back through pay-pals arbitration service. Wished I had read others reviews before ordering. AVOID
BEWARE. They've happily taken my order for a £115 jacket. Nine days later there's still no order dispatch notice from them. I've sent email after email - no response. I've tried calling - no answer. Shameless. Wished I'd checked this company out on Trustpilot before ordering, don't make my mistake
