I have been patient at Bramhall Health Centre from 1978. For many years it has been very difficult to get an appointment. There has been the 8 a.m. telephone lottery to contend with and some times I could not get a timely appointment . But on Thursday of this week I felt really poorly with a chesty cough which had worsened overnight so I called the Health Centre to be informed that there was absolutely no possibility of my being seen by a doctor or even speaking to one. When I explained how poorly I felt I was informed that I must, therefore, telephone 111.nnThe 111 operator took my details and told me to go to my local chemist who would be able to prescribe appropriately for me. When I saw the local pharmacist he was shocked. He listened to my cough and said that I needed to be examined by a doctor as it sounded serious. I explained that Bramhall Health Centre were not able to do this and he was at a loss to know what to do within the limits of his remit. Finally he prescribed Penicillin although both of us were doubtful of it helping with my cough.nnI am 82 years old and a rare visitor to the BHS surgery. I had hoped for better than this.nnSusan Halpern.
Excellent doctors. You feel that they really care.nHowever, I don't like the appointment system at all.nWhy can't one simply walk into a surgery and make an appointment without having to go through loops on line. If there ere are no appointments for a week or two fair enough but to be asked to phone between 8-8.30 is not patient friendly. I suspect that many patients would be prepared to wait as long they got an appointment.nI have been to A&E several times and have waited up to 12 hours before seeing a doctor. A nurse once remarked to me that many people go to A&E because of difficulties in seeing their GP.nWhen I go to A&E I take magazines, my computer and yes, my printer and virtually my office papers, all on a trolley in addition to a flask and sandwiches!nBut all the doctors at Bramhall Health Centre are wonderful showing a kind bedside manner. No complaints. I know it's a very demanding job.
On Friday 13 February 2026, I attended an appointment with Dr Salim for assessment of my current health concerns.nnDr Salim conducted a comprehensive and methodical clinical evaluation, taking a detailed history and performing an appropriate examination. She clearly explained her clinical reasoning and discussed with me her provisional differential diagnosis, outlining the possible underlying causes of my symptoms and the rationale for further investigation.nnGiven the potential seriousness of the presentation, Dr Salim arranged urgent blood tests without delay. In addition, during the consultation she contacted the hospital directly to expedite further assessment, securing a same-day hospital review to ensure timely investigation and continuity of care.nnI found Dr Salim to be thorough, decisive and compassionate in her approach. Her prompt actions and clear communication provided reassurance at a time of significant uncertainty. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr Salim for her professionalism, clinical diligence and patient-centred care.
Brilliant service this morning from Nurse Sarah H - I came for an early appointment at 7.45am this morning to take bloods only to realise I was meant to come on a different date. My mistake and they could have easily just sent me home. Sarah heard the conversation and said she would still take the bloods for me so I didn’t need to come back. She was super efficient and changed and cancelled my other booking. Thank you.
I have been a patient at the Bramhall Health for 50 years and during this period through a series of doctors and nurses I have experienced wonderful care.nI recently made an appointment without difficulty and saw Dr .Leach who dealt with my problem in the usual friendly,caring and professional way of the practice.nI feel so lucky in these difficult times for GP practices to be a patient of the Bramhall Health Centre and to be able to receive the wonderful care it provides.nJeff Sutcliffe
