Had a cam belt done. Went noisy after. Took it back with the noise. Was asked if it had had a cambelt done. Said yes by you a few months ago. Then was told the noise was the turbo. Took it elsewhere for someone else to have a look. Was told it was no way the turbo and that it was most likely an over tightened cambelt. But either way the noise was coming from the cambelt as he went over it with a stethoscope. Very disappointed. *update I gave them the opportunity to have another look and check the belt, as they requested. They changed the water pump as it was weeping. But changed nothing else. He still insists it is the turbo. The noise is still there, although it now makes it more of the time. I took it to a third garage who specialise in tuning and repairing this type of engine (who also would be more inclined to sell me a turbo). They also said it was something on the cambelt. *update Upto now I've just been putting up the the noise (stereo up) He did indeed offer to refund me if I got it changed and it cured the noise. Sound is subjective, I don't trust that he would agree the noise had been cured as it took two visits for him to agree there was a noise. Maybe he should offer to change the turbo and when the noise is still there I would have a free turbo but he's not that confident. I don't have the time or money to throw at it, plus it's been almost a year. Just confused why everywhere else says it's the belt/pulleys, but they say turbo.
