Delicious but expensive lunch for three. Homemade bread was a bit doughy for me, but tasty nevertheless. Beautiful buns for desert and nice coffee. The premium price gets you fresh seafood in a fantastic and fairly remote part of the world.Food: 4/5
Booked for lunch and took 2 dogs who were made very welcome. Food was amazing, so tasty and value for money. Really friendly staff. Would honestly recommend and will go back next time in area. Thank you everyone.
What an awesome restaurant. The food is super fresh they picked the herbs for my meal after I ordered the fish is crazy good. Great atmosphere. Seats inside or out. Super friendly owners/staff. Well worth a visit. Even if it's out your way.
Lovely quirky little place. My wife and I just stopped off for coffee and cake. Both were good with we thought the cinnamon buns were the best we ever had. Couple next to us were having lunch and the food looked really good. Nice ambience with eclectic decorations and art and curios for sale. They also sell cakes and some nice looking bread to take away. Limited parking outside the cafe. We squeezed our small campervan in but if you have a motorhome you would be better parking round the corner than going down the little lane.
We love these "middle of nowhere places". We can feel like Tom Hanks in that movie where he dated a soccer ball...but with what we imagine to be a unique, bespoke, personalised, unique wait..think I said that kne experience that you can tell your friends about, that they'll never be able to experience...add the name "botanica" to the mix, and the self congratulations may never end...and they almost pull the experience off...the setting and service fit the mental picture, and the food is on the money....except the desert, where the carrot cake is really as poor as I've ever had. I can almost forgive the texture free zone that is the oil based I suspect spongy stuff. The icing on a carrot cake must be 50pc icing sugar 50pc cream cheese. The provided sugar frosting, is, well sugar frosting. But this is a lively place and we'll worth your visit.
Lovely, out of the way restaurant. Great food, reasonable prices, fantastic location. Book in advance! Only tiny criticism is that they had plenty of tables but placed us, as a couple having a nice romantic meal, right next to a table of 8
There is no doubt it is a must go resturant and coffee. Located within. Farm and the chief is super. The staff are too friendly. I had unforgettable meals
Very excited to give Botanica at the Barn a try for dinner, and had high hopes for special occassion. Unfortunately if you will charge fine dining prices, you expect a fine dining experience, and it sadly failed on this front. The food and service doesn't deliver a correspondent experience to the price. A langoustine dish had just six langos on it £21, and beyond this was quite unexception. Fat on the lamb chop mains was not rendered down, and served simply with potato £22. Napkins were not replaced after the starter course, and again the service just does not tally with the price point here. The ambiance/ temperature was quite cold for a September evening, and we were particularly displeased at the £4.50 bread choice and oil 2 small slices, very yummy but extortionate. It is a nice try, but is punching above its weight class. Very few locals noted due to the high prices. We left feeling hungry, and that it did not offer value for money in Argyll. Costs have increased, but this was disproportionate.
Dropped into Botanica at the Barn at the end of October and had a fantastic lunch sorry forgot to take pictures. My wife and I had the best mussels we've ever had and we've had a few along with the delicious spicy beef flatbread. The service, food, dining room and location were great. We'll be back probably on every visit to Scotland.
Absolutely delicious seafood bouillabaisse, well worth making the trip here!
