About

AA Wales Hotel of the Year 2012/13, luxury country house hotel, restaurant and spa owned by the National Trust

Story

Standing in over 200 acres of its own parkland two miles south of Llandudno with spectacular views of Snowdonia and Conwy Castle. Believed to have 13th century origins, Bodysgallen Hall provides all that is best in country house hospitality.

Beautiful gardens include a rare 17th century parterre of box hedges filled with sweet-scented herbs, a rockery with a cascade, a walled rose garden, and several follies.

Historic House Hotels Limited has skilfully and sympathetically restored the 17th century house. The hotel has two restaurants, with imaginative food, which has been awarded three rosettes by the AA for fine-dining in the Main Hall, and is prepared from fresh local produce and complemented by fine wine. 1620, Bodysgallen Hall's new Bistro opened at the end of 2008, and offers simpler good value food in a contemporary setting.

In September 2008 this company donated all its interests in BODYSGALLEN HALL and the other two HISTORIC HOUSE HOTELS to THE NATIONAL TRUST, with all profits benefiting the houses and the charity.

There are 15 extremely comfortable bedrooms in the Main Hall including the principal suites, the Mostyn Suite, the Lady Augusta Suite, the Conwy Suite, and the Vaughan Suite. Each bedroom has been individually decorated. There are 16 cottage suites, with picturesque names like Pineapple Lodge, Castle View and Gingerbread House and are situated in the grounds, for guests preferring a greater degree of privacy.

Bodysgallen Hall's Health and Fitness Spa, approached by a short walk through the garden, has been converted from the original stone built farm. It contains a 50 ft swimming pool, spa bath, steam room, sauna, relaxation room, a clubroom, together with five beauty treatment rooms.

Products

31 bedroom hotel - 15 bedrooms including 4 Principal Suites in main Hall and 16 Cottage Suites in the grounds, fine dining restaurant 'The Dining Room' in the main Hall, 1620 Bistro for casual dining. Traditional Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed daily in the main Hall. The Bodysgallen Spa offers treatments and products from Decleor, Jessica Nails, CACI and XenTan. Lovely place for Sunday lunch. Reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Choice was a little limited as there was a large group of us (11) so that could be excused. House is stunning. Worth a visit just for a look.

Loved it! Wonderful garden - lovely food - lovely rooms. Not 5 stars as the pool building could do with an update. Also the cheese trolley was left exposed and so when we went to have dinner it smelt like a big old sock! - if you're not eating it, you're very aware of the stink. Will be coming back. Would live there!

Disappointing spa experience when I went for a gel manicure and wax treatment. When I arrived I wasn't welcomed and initially asked to pick a colour for a regular manicure and had to explain I had booked for the gel. The wax treatment took longer than normal and was extremely messy. The end result was uneven and during the treatment I was asked to keep "checking" myself - I shouldn't have been asked. The gel manicure left one of my cuticles bleeding and the next day still scabbed over. The end of one nail is also lifting already. I was going to complain but for £56 for both treatments, it is a lot cheaper than I normally pay so I didn't ask for a discount - but would not go back.
