Ordered the chicken skewers... they came out freezing to touch... not just cold... friendly helpful staff but sending chicken out like that is a no no.... won't eat here again now... sexist place too ... I thought in this day and age of equality things like this were banned....
Absolutely vile, waited 45 mins when it was quiet for 2 Sunday roasts and a steak pie, food came it tasted revolting, plates were dirty and we asked for one of the roasts large and paid extra for this. When the food came the roads were both regular size, when I told the waiter we paid for large he said no it wasn't when I clearly had it on the receipt, he went to the kitchen to check then came back saying yes it was large, no apology given. He said the only difference between the large and regular was 4 Yorkshire puddings when it said different on the menu, when I pointed this out he just said he would get it me, ten minutes later comes back with 4 Yorkshire puddings on a plate with a shed load of green beans and that's it. Rude staff and horrible food. Place is dirty kids running around everywhere avoid at all costs
Clean basic rooms, very friendly helpful staff especially as I needed to check back in quickly as feeling unwell, staff hurried a clean room for me and carried my bags back in. Would definitely stay again and have recommended to family living in area to use this hotel for other family/friends. Food good and no scrimping on plate size, caters well for children also. Just needs small holes in walls where tv's have been repositioned to be plastered over though in rooms - minor detail!
Looks like it can get busy, but I got there at the right time ordered myself a Strongbow dark fruit and a showcase mixed grill with peppercorn sauce. Brought to my table in about 12-15 mins and was cooked as requested. I will come again and try the roast beef.
If I'd slept on the floor I'd have been more comfortable than in that bed. Cheap tacky bathroom furnishings. Very tight on the tea/coffee/sugar servings just 2 of each. Breakfast the next morning was a disaster, we had to ask for the coffee flask to be refilled, then cups, orange juice jug to be replenished, glass for the juice, white bread for toasting, side plates for toast, and the poached eggs were like golf balls. The young lady that served us breakfast was nice though. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way to stay again.
Went for dinner today sharing starter was good. I had fish and chips and garden peas, the fish was awful and that peas were yesterday's left overs I think. My daughter had the small mixed grill peas the same and 2 burnt sausages. Complained to the waiter who took the plates away and all he said was sorry about that and walked away, don't think he even mentioned it to the management. Won't be going back again.
Went yesterday at approximately 2.30. Ordered a drink and a meal for myself and my wife. In less than 5 minutes the meal had arrived on the table. My mixed grill was the worst I have ever tasted. My wife ordered Chicken, ham aNd cheddar cheese pie with chips and peas. It was inedible. The chips had been kept warm and at least half of the chips were cooked to resemble pieces of coal. The pie looked as though it had been standing there for quite a while. We were surprised at the speed at which the meal came to the table but when we saw it we realised why. Must have been prepared a long time in advance. Obviously couldn't eat our meal and went home hungry. Very disappointed.
My wife and I visited early this afternoon for lunch. Upon entering, we waited at the empty bar for five minutes, watching the staff seemingly run around without direction- it was quite a bizarre frenzy to observe, it seemed that no-one was actually doing much but looking busy doing so. We were served our drinks, paid and then stood in the designated area, waiting to be seated. Another wait for the frantic staff member who led us through to a mildly busy restaurant area. We sat, reading through the enticing menu, but we realised something strange- on our side of the room, no one seemed to be eating, there was no food on any table. After a while, we'd both decided on our menu selection and sat, enjoying our drinks, listening to the surrounding chatter. A server came over to the table close to us- a large party of Jordies. It was apparent that the kitchen had no idea of what their orders were. The server was asking them to remind her of what they each ordered. They sounded somewhat perturbed at this, I think they'd been waiting to eat for a while. Over to my right, another table of customers were quietly complaining about the service- a single meal arrived for one person, his friends looking longingly at his plate, apparently they'd also been waiting a while. I then heard them complain that the meal he received was cold. I chuckled to my wife in disbelief at this point and asked whether she'd like to carry on waiting, or leave for another restaurant. We decided to wait a little longer "if by the time we finish our drinks and no-one comes to take our order, we'll leave". Another five minutes passed, supping our beverages, when to my left, through an archway, a large party of guests were really letting the server know their displeasure- really going to town about the abysmal service. I actually suggested to my wife that it was a hidden camera show, maybe Ramsay was going to pop out to shout at the staff. Alas, no, this wasn't the case, no such entertainment to be found. We finished our drinks, stood up and left, a friendly "bye" from the bar tender. Absolutely shocking display of mis-management, zero coordination, no direction, no care, no service. I'm appalled by this shocking display of incompetence, you get better service - and by the sounds of the complaints, better food at McDonalds. I highly recommend that you avoid this shambles, there's a lovely restaurant just down the road in the garden centre, which is where we decided to eat instead.
This is a great family friendly place to get good food at a reasonable price. There is a small play area outside of children but No Whacky Warehouse etc. That doesn't detract from his nice this place is. The staff are helpful and friendly. My family, friends and I have been coming here for years so for me that says it all.
Staff were very friendly helpful and fantastic. The meal was excellent value for money the chef went out of his way to make up some garlic mayonnaise for me. Fabulous experience. Thanks.
