The Postal Order like most of the Wetherspoons portfolio looks the business from the outside but unfortunately fails once you walk in. Usually there is nice decor and architecture in their establishments but this one feels more like a social club and lacks the 'spoons' feel. It would have got 2 stars if I was judging it on that but I've given it 5 stars purely on the quality of food and the service the staff provided. The food arrived piping hot within 10 minutes and the request for 'well done' chips was fulfilled. Both the meals, chicken tikka & fried chicken buttermilk burger were outstanding & delicious and the constant noticeable staff around to attend to customers was great to see. A busy pub with mostly regulars but would recommend it for just the food alone 10/10
One of the best pubs in Blackburn situated near the Mall and Cathedral. Lively atmosphere with good choice of alcoholic beverages and food. The Nacho wasn't that great but had tried fish and chips and beef cheese burger which was outstanding. The cider beers are too good if one has a palatte of that kind. You need to order and get your drinks from the bar whereas food is served on your table. Must visit.
I've been to the postal order a few times never really had any issues. Went last night the place was a mess. Waiters just constantly walking past dirty tables, with plates glasses etc on the tables. 3 people on the bar serving two people then just talking not bothering to collect glasses or anything. Food was average, think its really gone down hill since I went in last year. I wouldn't say it was really busy, there was more dirty tables than places to sit, only when we had nearly finished our meal did the table next to us get cleaned, when the waiter did clean it he took the plates left the glasses and the rubbish until about ten minutes later when the manager came round collected the glasses rubbish straightened out the menus and wiped the table the other tables were still dirty but the only person I really saw doing anything was the manager! The one blonde girl who served us on the bar was lovely, but the places is just a complete mess I will not be returning after that.
I remember when this was an actual Post Office, +30yeaes ago, that's how old I am! It has seen better days and with quite a few parties having been had here unfortunately. The appearance is very tired, like most of the people who were drinking at the establishment. Looks like a Weatherspoons pub needing a lot of interior cosmetic work needed to make it look more appealing to their customers. I have been here a few times since it first opened, there isn't anywhere else available in the shabby town centre, also needing lots of attention to make it what it used to be like many years ago. Lots has been done to the Cathedral Quarter although that is also needing cosmetic upgrades to make it a location worth visiting. At least the area is so run down the homeless people that were always visible in the boulevard area have moved on to better areas of Blackburn, what's left of them!
Nice big Spoons, right in the middle of town. The usual decent fare, well priced as you'd expect. Great selection of ales. Pleasant staff. Well worth visiting.
good local blackburn pub.. massive old building will lots of character. cheap beer and food. the food is really good quality too. would definitely go back
Lovely looking pub from the outside, long large open room with lot's of seating area inside, & a small amount of tables outside the building. Friendly staff whilst served atvthe bar, just a cold cider, no food ordered. I did have to walk up 3 flights of stairs to use toilets, but not too bad. I would come again.
Nice, spacious pub with plenty of seating. Staff were friendly and food arrived quickly after ordering through the spoons app. Steaks were cooked nicely and food was hot. Table was clean and not 'typical spoons sticky'. Can't give 5 stars on this occasion because after paying extra for an extra egg, it was not brought to the table. It wasn't the easiest to get hold of staff but once I did they handled the situation quickly and well.
One long room.12 handpulls.6 real ales on. Standard spoons. Nice and worm. Service good and friendly.
Went here for a lunchtime meal. The staff were friendly and attentive. I was surprised at how long we had to wait for our food, it is certainly the longest I have ever had to wait at a Wetherspoons. The food was good and served hot.
