What a great day out, located in the family friendly area of Southsea, Blue Reef is just one of many ways to spend a day, and spend an entire day there you very well could! The staff are great, the site is large and contains a fantastically diverse array of animals and the gift shop is filled with brilliant trinkets and collectibles that are almost but not quite as eye-catching as their real life counterparts. Ticket prices are fair and there is a cafe on-site that I've heard good things of but am yet to try myself. If you're looking for a way to entertain the kids, a romantic afternoon getaway or you're just someone who likes watching animals simply be, then I could not recommend Blue Reef more.
Cute little aquarium, good price but is smaller than most aquariums I've visited. Great for kids. Turtle with an attitude problem, adorable otters, fishing strictly prohibited and don't feed your kids to the sharks it upsets their stomachs.
Fab couple of hours spent walking around. Loads of different displays to look at. Really friendly staff very helpful. Can use ticket all day which is fab definitely come again. The chuncky turtle or tortoise loves pink and will follow you up and down the enclosure
It was a fantastic place to go if you like sea life. I’ve expected more aquatic animals inside but that’s not too bad. Had a pleasant day at blue reef aquarium.
£44 for 2 adults and 2 kids for a 10 minute walk around was well overpriced. First time I've ever seen the elusive cement mixer fish as well. Place was run down, outside area was awful. On a plus the entrance staff where lovely. Wouldn't go again though, I feel sorry for the fish.
We liked it! Had a good hour here and some great things to see and it's not too busy. Felt a bit sorry for the lonely snapping turtle. A bit run down. It's seen better days for sure - needs some money I guess!
I was quite sceptical before visiting the place and after reading all those reviews from unsatisfied people, but I thought to give the place a chance. Location is great, ideal when you go for a walk across the Southsea coast. ‍ Staff: great, smiley , kind, they try hard. Tickets: Compared to other aquariums it is low, but then considering the size, the time and the options you get I would say too expensive for a family visit. Place: there is an interest with a nice range of fishes but admittedly restricted with some spots in need of deep renovation. Outdoors soft play area: It is a bonus and the kids enjoyed that. It is such a shame that there is no coffee or ice cream available! Souvenir shop: Interesting but really expensive series of cuddle toys . Overall it was OK for a visit we didn't manage to attend any of the available talks, it had definitely seen better days in the past, while I am not entirely sure if I would recommend the place...
Went with my 8 year old great nephew, thought it was very overpriced and not very god value for the money. Yes they have different 'feeding' times/ talks throughout the day but quite honestly you can get around the whole place in 1 hour so lucky to see one feeding session / talk at the most. Your hand is stamped so you can come and go as many times as you wish during the day you go....on the whole it was OK but we won't be rushing back at the prices they charge.
A lovely small aquarium perfect for those who only want to spend a couple hours doing something. We have a baby and she absolutely loved all the colours and fish. We also listened to the talks and saw the rays being fed. As adults we spent time reading the information boards and having a slow meander through. At one point I needed to breastfeed my baby and there were plenty of benches located throughout where I could find a quiet spot. On a hot day they have a splash pad and play area for children. If you have older children this aquarium may be too small for them but for 5 and unders it's perfect! Only reason we didn't give 5 stars is the price is a little expensive.
Small but interesting for the kids. Felt a little expensive for an attraction that the kids will get through in an hour or less. But all in it's a great place
