Outstanding. Simply outstanding. Generous portions of delicious food, served by a wonderful waitress, and cooked by a lovely bloke. Absolutely couldn’t fault this place. Really superb value for money.Food: 5/5
We had another amazing evening at the Blue Island. Simon and Christina's food is just fabulous; amazing flavours, meat cooked to perfection and everything beautifully presented. And all in such a welcoming atmosphere. The waitresses are just the best! I can recommend the mushrooms and prawns to start with, and the moussaka and souvlaki for main courses. Faultless!
Rated in the top 10 in Southampton. Really? The first thing you will be met with is a notice that it is a cash or money transfer only restraunt. No credit cards wanted. The food was mediocre. Tasty but I was expecting more. No rice or Greek potatoes offered. No pita bread and dips with the meal. Portions were adequate . Be careful if you use the toilets. They are on the second floor and the stairs are steep.
Our first visit and we will definitely return! We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in and the service throughout was impeccable. The selection of dips were really tasty and we had lovely warm pittas. The accompanying salad was excellent - big chunks of high quality feta and plenty of ripe tomatoes and olives. We enjoyed all the dishes, potentially our favourites being the stuffed vine leaves and chicken, but it was hard to choose. We really liked the decor, you feel like you are in a real restaurant, not a chain. Very reasonably priced and a great location for a pre-show meal at the Guildhall.
It's possibly the worst Greek restaurant we've ever visited in the UK. We went for the Meze, and whilst most parts were OK, it was served at 90 mph. Between the 1st and the final serving was little more than 30 minutes. Poor wine selection, which wouldn't be out of place on the £3 shelf in a low-grade supermarket.Food: 3/5
My partner walks past Blue Island on his way to work and for many years wanted to dine in but never had the opportunity to. This was until he and I decided to try this restaurant out of curiosity. And were we glad we did. The moment we walked in, it was like we were transported to someone's homely dining room in Santorini as the white and blue colour motif was reminiscent of the island. The main chef, who's behind the kitchen opening greeted us at the door. Staff overall were very friendly and welcoming. Service was quick and efficient as well. I ordered the moussaka which was simply delicious- soft and fluffy with a subtle creamy flavour and at the same time packed with mince meat. The size looked small at first glance but it proved to be quite filling towards the end. My partner, who had the chicken souvlaki, enjoyed his dinner all the same as the chicken was melt in your mouth tender and seasoned perfectly. All mains come with a generous portion of Greek Salad and crispy, fluffy chips. It was definitely well worth the money spent as servings were massive. Some things to consider, this is a no debit/ credit card restaurant so try to find a cash point before going in. Toilets are after the first flight of stairs and are immaculately clean. Overall, this restaurant is highly recommended for those who love Greek food. We will surely come back.
The service was very friendly and efficient, I couldn't fault it. But the food really was mediocre at best, unfortunately. For £18, you expect something special. This is more like a meal you might cook at home on a weekdayFood: 2/5
Service was great and the table set- up very good. The food didn't live up to our Greek expectations. Dolmades were tasteless as well as the frozen chips, the lamb kleftico was very tender but devoid of any herbs and was served with salad. Bottled Mythos beer was lovely but no Metaxa on the premises so had Ouzo instead.Food: 3/5
Best Greek restaurant in Southampton, good host, great food, the quality is superb and worth coming in every aspect. Recommend this place for everyone. Bring cash though, they do not accept cards here.
It's a Greek home-style restaurant. The food feels like a home-cooked meal. The cold meze is boring because of repeated garnish of tomatoes, salad leaves, and cucumbers. The warm meze was much more delicious. Katrina, the staff, is friendly. However, this restaurant need more improvement. First, I couldn't understand why the lights were blue. All the food looked weird bluish, so I didn't get any appetite at all. The second one, the cleanliness was terrible. I visited as the first guest of the dinner and a broken red artificial nail was left unattended under my table. The facilities are also outdated, so if you want a good atmosphere, it's absolutely not recommend. Finally, this restaurant only accepts cash. I think it's probably to promote tax evasion. It sounds like the card terminal is broken only today, but it seems to be an excuse that always comes up when there is no monitor, given that there is a proper information sign.
