Super charming, cozy, and relaxing place in the middle of Soho. French cuisine shines here with such great flavour, care, and finishing touches. The food options are great, and portions are fair. The pea gnocchi is phenomenal! They have a large selection of wine, but I also highly recommend the cocktails! Oh, and they are dog friendly. A must go!
Outstanding french cuisine, would highly recommend! We ordered the bread with butter, mixed olives, beef croquettes, the pork belly and the crab tagliatelle with red chilli and garlic. The bread was superb, and the beef croquettes lived up to the expectations, they were of decent size, incredibly flavoursome and rich, and great for sharing. The pork belly was very well cooked, soft and full of flavour, and the bacon jam improved the plate by adding a touch of sweetness in addition to the sauces. The best dish was definitely the crab tagliatelle. While one may think that there is not that much crab since it’s shredded, it is in copious amounts, and even the pasta tastes like crab, which is rare to find since many restaurants when cooking with seafood only add tomato sauce and the seafood to the pasta rather than cooking them together. The chilly flavour was perfect, not too much as to overtake the other components of the plate but enough to give it a nice kick. All in all, would recommend, great spot for a dinner in Soho!
We had an excellent lunch here of small plates - starters, charcuterie, and cheeses - and will definitely be back soon. Everything was delicious and well prepared. The cheese beignets were absolutely amazing - we could have had 10 orders of them! Great service and atmosphere. Also they make good cocktails. A real find!Food: 5/5
Blanchette, nestled in the heart of Soho, is a gem that offers a delightful escape into French cuisine with a modern twist. The intimate and charming ambiance immediately sets the tone for a memorable dining experience. The rustic décor, with its vintage accents and cozy seating, makes it an ideal spot for both casual gatherings and special occasions. One of the standout dishes at Blanchette is their chicken. Cooked to perfection, the chicken is tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The seasoning is impeccable, creating a savory dish that leaves a lasting impression. It's clear that great care and expertise go into the preparation, making it a must-try for any visitor. Equally impressive is the starter meat platter. This selection of cured meats is a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to quality. Each piece on the platter offers a distinct taste experience, from the rich and hearty to the delicately spiced. Paired with fresh bread and accompaniments, it’s an excellent way to start the meal and truly showcases Blanchette’s commitment to traditional French charcuterie. The service at Blanchette is also commendable. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food they serve. They are more than willing to offer recommendations and ensure that every guest feels well taken care of. The menu at Blanchette is diverse, offering a range of dishes that cater to different tastes while maintaining a strong French influence. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, complementing the menu perfectly and enhancing the overall dining experience. Overall, Blanchette in Soho scores a well-deserved 4.6 out of 5. The combination of exceptional food, inviting atmosphere, and top-notch service makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to enjoy French cuisine in London. Whether you’re there for the exquisite chicken or the delectable meat platter, Blanchette promises a dining experience that’s both satisfying and memorable. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian dishes
We ordered a two course meal and some dishes from the menu. We love the crispy bread with honey and cheese a lot! Croquettes are nice with melty fillings inside, the soup is thick and creamy, and the chicken is tendered. Yet the risotto is comparatively ordinary and the service charge is a bit higher than the normal restaurant. Overall it is a delightful experience.
Blanchette recently celebrated its 10th birthday, which means it can legitimately be considered a modern Soho institution in my book. And it's clearly earned that tenure from some exceptional food and fantastic atmosphere. Our dinner for two delivered on both of those. One page of the menu is dedicated to small plates that serve as appetisers - bar snacks, cheese and honey pairings, charcuterie and the like. A special call out to the goats cheese and honeycomb which was the dish of the night. The other side of the menu is a variety of mains with a strong French influence, and both my salmon and my dining partner's moules were delicious though secretly it was the frites and Béarnaise we couldn't get enough of. We finished the meal with some utterly delicious passion fruit and coffee ice creams accompanied by a very well made espresso martini. Then the atmosphere. The restaurant is small but typically packed, giving it a buzz that you really only get in the heart of Soho. It's exhilaratingly chaotic and charming in equal measure. The only slight drawback was the service. While nothing but friendly, the actual delivery was patchy. The small plates took a while to arrive, only for the mains to then be sent from the kitchen before said small plates had been fully eaten. And the front of house team, who again were entirely cheerful, were also clearly a bit harried. Still, perhaps that's just part of the vibe. Do as the French do, order another bottle of wine and go with the flow...
Had a great time, lovely staff. Sat at the counter and had some good recommendations. Notably the charcuterie & desserts. For mains we had the pork belly and chicken with a side salad see below. Fantastic French cuisine with a modern twist in a cool, ambient restaurant.Food: 5/5
Wow, what a place, hidden gem in soho and close to Regent Street.. Been there for lunch , staff is super good and very attentive and ambience is like Heritage loved it , Food is very affordable price and excellent quality , enjoyed olives , cheese, breads all fresh and amazingly, loved the hospitality surely will be there some other time to try more dishes and wines
Had the pre-show set menu, and everything was utterly delicious. I’m not the biggest pavlova fan, but by far one of the tastiest pavlovas I’ve heard had. Highly recommend the pork rillettes and the gnocchi! Can’t wait to come backFood: 5/5
Went in for the lunch menu, and thought it was really worth the price and quality! The atmosphere is cute and rustic, the bread and butter was amazing just too bad it was extra cost, unlike in France and served warm. The mussels were very generous! Not all of the dishes were French, some were a bit more Italian inspired like the pea risotto or the Bhaji appetiser, but everything tasted delicious!
