Called today pub wasn't busy, was no greeting on arrival, ordered some drinks before going to our seats, had to search out a kids menu, food took a while to come out which was fine as that was explained on ordering. starter was okay brie sharing platter not enough chutney though for 2 people, mains well where do I start kids meals were over cooked, the cod & chips was horrendous the fish was rubbery and hard, the lasagne was just your bog standard pub grub, puddings were okay nothing to write home about, kids sundae was literally 2 scoops of ice cream and sauce not as described. The service was dire no check backs on food, took ages for plates to be cleared, then puddings I had to find someone as we had waited well over 30 mins which then they had to ask us what we had actually ordered because they forgot. £54 not including drinks we told them about the fish been awful they grumbled sorry and that was it, won't return again as it's just not for us
Our first choice restaurant. Great menu, good prices, lovely food, polite and friendly staff, good parking, nice cocktails :
Had a lovely Sunday lunch here with family. We were celebrating our daughters birthday. Food was good and portions of a good size. The staff made the visit though and not only brought out the cake we’d taken with us with candles lit but also provided plates and ice cream for us to enjoy it. Lovely touch and much appreciated.
Food was lovely as were some of the staff. However one female bar staff was very rude demanding we settle the tab about 9pm and then told us to drink up or as she put it may I encourage you to drink up. We were not told this when we arrived at 7pm. Her attitude was not very nice and although we were going to give a tip we didn't think after her attitude that we should. However food was very good.
My wife and I love this pub and have even met friends for a meal there. The car park has very good disabled parking with my wife being disabled. All the staff are so polite and friendly and always try to give both of us a table near the main door. I have a slight disability myself where I cannot carry our drinks to the table so the staff are quite happy to bring our drinks to the table even on our second visit to the pub the staff remembered the two of us and showed us straight to the table then ask what drinks we would like and brought them to our table how thoughtful of them. The food is first class and their Sunday lunch is the best we have had when eating out the roast spuds are the best I have ever had All their meals are reasonably priced.
Went for lunch today with friends had a lovely time we where served by young lad called Clive who was very friendly and helpful and had genuine smile. Food was served fairly quickly and hot 5 adults and 1 child all different meals. Will definitely return
Had a party of 14, last night . Food not bad , the staff told all the time in groups instead of clearing the tables. Asked for the cake to bring out. Which they did with the cream. Had to ask for spoons. Had to ask for serviette. Then we wanted some coffee , this was at 8 pm. We were told they had shut the coffee machine down , so couldn’t have one. Disgusted. Wasn’t go again and want recommend it.
I'm really sorry that I posted a wrong message. The meals were spot on.The Cod loin was cooked perfectly, my partner had the Gammon meal which she said that it was really tasty. An enjoyable afternoon with happy staff.
I like the Blacksmiths Arms for many reasons, first though is how spacious it is, lots of room inside and out.. the atmosphere is always welcoming. And delicious food. They also catered for my young grandsons allergies .
Excellent choice of food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Really good music playlist. Called for food on a Friday afternoon, very impressed. As a celiac was given a good choice on the menu, also has gluten free lager Well looked after, no reaction to food, very happy with food
