Upon arrival I was greeted by Michael and Jayne, they were very friendly and welcoming also very helpful. The property is very unique and set in beautiful grounds next to the river. The room was top notch with everything I needed also had a very nice communal area inside and out. The little treehouse type area overlooking to river is great. Was a solo visit this time but I will be definitely be returning with the Mrs. Would 100% recommend to anyone.
Michael and Jayne are perfect hosts and I can't imagine them ever not being able to make your stay exactly how you'd want it to be. We stayed here because we were attending a night event at nearby Kielder Observatory and Michael and Jayne are perfectly familiar with the journey there and back, and the set up is completely consistent with getting in at 3.00 am after the 30 minute drive back. The place itself is purpose-built and sits prettily alongside the river. It has some fabulous areas to relax in, both inside and out. The main area of Newcastleton is just a 10 minute stroll away, either along the pretty riverside walk or along the road. For the observatory, and for exploring the Scottish borders, this place is ideal. Don't hesitate.
Staying at Blackburn Lodge was lovely. The room we stayed in Elliot was well appointed with a comfortable bed and was spotless. There was a shared lounge with everything you could want to make your stay comfortable, including a wine fridge, music system, and woodburner for cosy nights. For warmer evenings there are a number of outdoor seating areas including one overlooking the river, with heaters, blankets, and lighting. The owners, Micheal and Jayne, are excellent hosts, very friendly, accommodating, and Jayne cooked a very tasty locally-sourced breakfast. We stayed here to go to Kielder Observatory, it's ideally placed, and they provided very helpful tips on getting there including a map. Would definitely recommend.
I really can't fault this lovely guest house! The owners are so friendly and welcoming, breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented. Our room was really nice, very clean and comfortable with a great en-suite bathroom. The house is set in beautiful surroundings, right by the river with great views. A great place to stay if you're exploring the borders or visiting Kielder Observatory.
We went wrong way by our mistake. Michael give me a very patiently navigation. And wait us till the midnight. And We were very warmly welcomed by Jayne and Michael. It's a very beautiful house designed by Michael himself. The room is very big and quiet, the bed is comfortable. Outside the window is a small river and beautiful garden. The breakfast is very nice, Jayne is a excellent cooker! It's a FIVE STAR home you have could find on your journey!

What a superb place. Friendly professional couple who gave us maps and advice. Delicious breakfasts. Very comfortable rooms and beautiful en suite. Garden by River to lounge in. They have thought of everything. Can't wait to go back.

As promised, an exceptional breakfast! Good location for exploring kielder and Hadrians wall. Wonderful hosts, friendly and always offering their advice on local places to walk, visit and eat. Definitely recommend!
