Had a great meal at this lovely old pub in beautiful village surroundings. The food was excellent made more special by the genial and friendly hosts. It was a special meal as we were saying goodbye to my sister and husband as they leave to return to Australia. We couldn't have picked a better location thank you for a great evening.
We visited The Black Horse last night for a meal with our 10 guests after getting married. We haven't been for a while and l have to say the new Land Lord was amazing he accommodated us all, was brilliant when three wedding cakes turned up providing cutlery and plates. The meal was excellent very good portions and no complaints it's so nice to see this very much loved local pub back to its best again well done to you all the staff chefs bar waiters waitress and the owners,we will defiantly be returning and Thank you once again lovely evening after a lovely day
Stopped in as a pit stop on the way from Oxford to Skegness for some lunch, it was so lovely, the food, the place, the location, the staff. Fab.
Great choice of well kept real ales. Recently changed hands, it would seem, and the menu seems to have gone somewhat upmarket, I hope they haven't been a bit too ambitious as this pub built a good name for quality, good value, pub food. Time will tell but I hope they pull it off.
Visited The Black Horse Grimston for diner with friends for a birthday treat. The standard of food served was terrible. Out of 4 meals only one was just about up to scratch. My friend's wife ordered salmon and the choice of potato was chips or mashed. the fish was dry and the mash, we were told was out to be out of a packet!! my friend ordered chicken breast which was tough. The moussaka that was served to my wife was thin and watery. It looked as if it had been frozen and re-heated in a microwave oven. That went back and she asked for salmon fishcakes. The waiter brought these out without cutlery, which only arrived after having to ask for it at the bar. Sadly the fishcakes were no better. Nearly all potato, probably packet and barely a hint of salmon. Not really edible. I'm sorry, but the food served to us definitely wasn't, to quote from their website "High quality traditional food made from the finest local produce". In the end the four of us left early, very, very disappointed with the quality of the food and the level of service. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
An old favourite of our's - been a few times since discovering by accident took detour to avoid roadworks 6 or 7 years ago. Recent change of ownership, still the same trade country pub. We had the excellent Liver & Bacon and Beer battered Fish & ChiCh. Cooked perfectly, decent portions and good value. We'll be back again
I took the family there when they came to visit, having been made aware the pub is under new management. The atmosphere and service were excellent and the food absolutely fabulous. All agreed the steaks were amazing. Definitely recommend the Black Horse for a meal out.
New landlord has done wonders since taking over. Great selection of beers and ales. Fantastic selection of food. A well presented countryside pub back to it's former glory.
Have eaten here a number of times. Have always found the staff to be welcoming and courteous. Always had delicious, home cooked tasty food. Keep up the good work
