Loved this place. The history is fantastic. The lady behind the bar was very knowledgeable too, I'd love to have chatted to her all night. The food was excellent. We both had steak pie, the vegetable medley was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place. My husband liked the beer too.
A lovely pub, excellent food and friendly service. Dog friendly inside and out. I believe it's 14th Century - so thick walls and beams, 'original' windows and fireplace and it has been sympathetically presented ... quite a lovely, well laid out space. Outside garden area has plenty of seating but the garden borders are in need of some TLC to make it 'shine'. There was outside work in progress, so maybe that will be undertaken in due course. I would definitely return on our next visit and recommend to others.
Delicious food perfectly executed and very accommodating staff. One of our table asked for a dish not on the menu which the chef very kindly made. Good selection of drinks especially gins! Parking is really tight but there is a pay and display next door
Stumbled across this place by accident. The staff were all fantastic; we felt welcome the moment we walked in even though we're not local. Had delicious main courses then were tempted by these homemade churros which were the best I've ever tasted! I'm not so into sweet food but these were just amazing. Think we'll be coming back just for pudding...
A wonderful, historic building serving fantastic food options. The staff are very welcoming, particularly to our two border collies. I found the Tudor inspired décor very inspiring.
Had an amazing lunch today. Very welcoming, great atmosphere and fantastic staff. Highly recommended.
Went there on a week day for lunch. Soup of the day homemade roasted veg soup, sandwich generous ham & cheese & a pint of Everards bitter. All was perfect in this historical pub with so much character. Will definitely go back next time we're in Melton Mowbray.
Lovely old building. Good food. The ploughman's and the mussels were excellent. Good ales as well. staff friendly and efficient. Would definitely come back.
Lovely place to eat. Staff are really friendly & helpful. Food lush with good-sized portions. Recommend the ham, egg & chips. Very dog friendly, out two border collies loved the fuss. We will be back when next in the area. Definitely recommend.
Popped in for lunch today, had a brilliant soup and sarnie. The tomato, basil and chilli soup was fantastic. Homemade fish finger sarnie to die for.
