Nice gastro pub in the old part of Milton Keynes. All the servers we had were so friendly, drinks where poured quickly and checked on frequently. Food was very nice and portioned correctly to its cost. Drinks prices where also reasonable and don't miss on having the sticky toffee pudding. Outside the road sign needs a brighter light. It's hard to see at night the entrance to this lovely spot.
Splendid evening out along the canal, with excellent food and delightful service. We tried a number of starters the tomato and basil soup, duck parfait, prawns and the scallops and one main: the fish cakes. All were equally tasty and the wine nicely paired with our food. Price and quality ratio was good. It was a balmy summer's evening so the canal location was perfect! Parking: Plenty of space and secure. Easy to locate.
What a wonderful dining experience! Thank you Ellie for your warm welcome and Sharon for your delicious suggestion! It was so so delicious, lovely atmosphere and perfect service xxx
Lovely pub good beer. Would be 5 stars but you have to order through a website and it did offer Google pay and instead wanted me to add my card details. I mean who carries their card or knows these off by heart ‍
Went for lunch with my family. We had roast dinner, food was nice and had lots of flavour. Desert was good . Service was very good. Loved the view to the canal although we sat inside as the weather wasn't very nice today.
Starter: Mushrooms on toast. Main: Dirty Burger Pudding: white chocolate cheese cake trio. Mushrooms on toast was really good, fresh pesto, lovely cooked egg, nice Mushrooms and lovely toast. Dirty burger, I decided to double up and have a side of mac and cheese with it. Took one pattie out to try it on its own and it was seasoned really well, had good char lines on it, was tasty and homemade. The Mac and cheese was saucy, cheesy and not dry at all. The actual burger in the bun was the best burger I've had, you could taste everything in the burger with every bite. Cheesecake trio, wasn't to sickly considering it was white chocolate, each ball complimented each other and tasted sweet, crunch from honeycomb was welcomed too. Julie and Vicky took the time to speak to us and we're amazing hosts. I'm almost certain that everything on the menu is cooked with care and attention. The price is a key point in my review as I would probably pay a little more for what we had, it was seriously amazing, we will be back.
My partner and I went for dinner at the Black Horse last night. It was our first meal out since January and I am so glad that we chose to go here, it felt like such a luxury. From the moment we got there we couldn't fault a thing. The atmosphere was great and the staff were welcoming. Our waitresses for the night, Julie and Vicky just made the experience even more enjoyable for us. They were attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and really added to our experience. As for the food, it was the best meal we've had and everything about it was just exceptional. I had the breaded brie to start and couldn't get enough of it. The chutney that the brie came with complimented it do well. I had a fillet steak for main with beef dripping sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly with a great char on the outside, soft and tender in the middle and full of flavour. The sauce was so rich and flavoursome, it went so well with everything on the plate. To finish I had sticky toffee pudding with custard. Again, it was faultless. It was rich and sweet but not too sickly. I have already recommended this place to family and friends since last night and will continue to do so. We will be back soon! Thankyou for making our night so memorable and enjoyable! And from one chef to another, compliments to the chef!
Great pub with incredible food. If the weather is good it's lovely to sit out by the canal. Definitely get the cauliflower cheese to accompany the roast
Amazing gastro pub. Love that place and was here already soo many times. Time to leave a review… and it’s a 5 star one as was never disappointed, either with food or service. Plus it’s a super nice, authentic and cosy place. Summer or winter is equally nice The food and wine was once again top and the price was fair too. Big plus is the spacious parking.
Nice sunday roast! 1 star deducted, Aperol Spritz not that great, extra dose of sparkling water is making it bigger, however, also weaker
