Went to the plough as a last minute surprise Sunday lunch for my gf.. the whole ambience when we entered the pub was great.. decor was awesome and looked classy. We went for the sharer Sunday roast and when it came to the table we wasn't disappointed!! It was huge and was plenty for the 2 of us easily. The meat was cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth. Desert was equally awesome and oh so tasty!!!! All together was a great Sunday lunch and will 100% be returning very soon. Thanks so much!!!
It was as much as you can get from a pub menu, massive quantity but needed a bit more flavour. The location is beautiful, a walking distance from the serene caldecotte lake. Along the road that connects Kent's Hill with Walton Park. The staff were friendly and took our orders quickly, not too many people were there at the time we visited. Food came out within 30mins, the haddock was massive and the chunky chips were good...however the carrots had no taste at all and the tartar sauce wasn't bad. My friend's daughter had the risotto and she did not enjoy it at all. The ciabatta garlic bread was the best thing on the menu. The parking is free and loads of outdoor sitting so would be nice in summer. The decor was a little bit updated; not the worst pub I have been to. Would I visit again? Not sure
Very good service however unfortunately the food was just very bland. We had the bread and oils which was nice, mushroom risotto which was bland and felt like it was missing a significant flavour, seafood pasta which was too creamy and hand battered haddock which was ok. Decent space for parking just behind the building.
Visited the plough in Simpson Village this afternoon about 5pm. Food was excellent tried the Vegan Burger for a change really nice. Service was excellent also. Under new management and new chef. Hannah that runs the Cross Keys is looking after this pub at the moment.
Excellent food and service. First time visit and it won't be the last. The food was well cooked and tasted fabulous - no soggy vegetables in this pub! Very generous portions. Make sure you bring your appetite, you're going to need it!! We paid a late lunchtime visit and had pie of the day, sausage and mash followed by apple & pear crumble and white chocolate & raspberry bread & butter pudding. So full, we didn't eat again for the rest of the day. Great value prices too. Our Waiter was exceptionally polite and friendly. Couldn't fault it. Would thoroughly recommend
Amazing pub food and attentive service. I loved the small town home feeling accompanied by top shelf food.
This is a lovely venue but what gives it a wonderful warm character is the staff...They are so warm, welcoming & friendly....I'm very new to the area after buying a house round the corner and have found myself going every day after work which I've never done before as not a big bar fan as did over 26 years working pubs & club doors in London to have a pint and read a few pages of a book...you are made to feel like you've been going there for years & the other clientele are also very friendly. The team there are so polite and above all have such a happy nature...I don't know who the manager is but the staff are really doing you proud
A hidden gem with a superb gluten free menu. We had brilliant service from the moment we walked in and the service just improved. Food was awesome and the warm bread with butter was an excellent starter! A 5 Star review! Love the ambience, service and food is top notch.
A roast to write home about! I cannot begin to express how delicious this was. The pork was especially delicious! The staff, as always, are super attentive and welcoming. The pub itself is well thought out and comfortable. Again, the people that work here make this a must do place to visit. Always impeccable in every way.
An amazing Sunday sharing platter as always. Only slight criticism was the Yorkshires were a little overcooked, but didn’t spoil it.
