Tried bizzie lizzies for the first time and had a very long wait time for fish and chips. Although having said this the fish was very nice in fresh crispy batter with some well cooked tasty chips. For fish and chips it is more on the expensive side but nice never the less and can be no complaints in terms of the flavours. Is it the best fish and chips I’ve ever had ? -No , but it is solid and ticks the boxes of a good chippy just a shame about the wait times and slightly premium price point 4/5
I enjoyed the food here, I had the quarter pounder with cheese burger and chips with salad and coleslaw it was delicious and the staff were very nice, they also had very nice toilet facilities as well, they were very clean and tidy.Food: 5/5
Called on way to holiday in Yorkshire Dale's. We had visited the original restaurant a few years ago and loved it, hence choosing here. It was early evening, easy to park, car park is opposite. That was one reason we chose this restaurant as one of us has mobility issues. Place almost empty so seated straight away. Ordered haddock and chips twice with side of mushy peas and the chicken breast for my sister. Asked for bread and butter to be told brown only, we said fine. Asked if the fish was skinless, member of staff didn't quite understand but eventually confirmed it was skinless. We asked if they did a large bottle of sparkling water. We were told yes. A small bottle arrived, that was the only size so we ordered a second. We were then told they had run out of mushy peas but the manager was doing some more. About 5 minutes later two very small haddock and chips arrived. Both lukewarm. We were told there was a delay on the chicken as it had to be defrosted. We had almost finished our "meal" apparently we had been served lightly battered which only comes with a half portion of chips, that wasn't what we ordered, I asked if there was any progress with the mushy peas. Still not ready, so we cancelled them. We were just finishing our meal when my sister’s chicken arrived. Not a good experience. Poor food, poor service. When we were asked if everything was okay we gave the list of faults. When we went to pay for our meal we were told we weren't being charged for the drinks and the peas. Very happy we weren't charged for the peas, they never arrived. We will not be returning, and I don't think the other establishment will remain on our list, standards have slipped very badly. I gave two stars because of the slight acknowledgement that things were far from acceptable.
We have been to Skipton many times but never visited this restaurant before. It won't be our last visit. Great place and apart from the food the staff are all very pleasant and the fish features around the building are quirky. From door viewing panels to WC seats. Give it a try they have a large menu not just fish and chips. OAP special also available. Enjoyed our Yorkshire Fish cakes Or scones. Parking: Large council run car park with EV charge points and spaces for coaches. Can be busy on Market days and machines are very slow unfortunately.
Something has changed here. We sat inside and waited ages for our food with only one other table occupied. The kids were so patient but I was feeling a bit sorry for them tbh as this was supposed to be a nice treat. The atmosphere wasn’t good. Little things like having ice in our soft drink glasses and us having to get up and ask for tomato sauce once the food had finally been delivered just left us with an unsatisfactory feeling. I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t so expensive. It’s very expensive for a family if you want drinks and desserts. The waitress was lovely but the staff there looked a bit distracted and the manager I’m assuming appeared to be conducting his staff performance reviews on the next table so we tried not to listen but it was all a bit awkward. He also proceeded to have a very loud shouted conversation from his seat with another staff member who was in the kitchen about the quality of local supermarkets which was quite intrusive and a bit cringe. Luckily kids don’t notice these things but grown ups do so we probably won’t be back which is a shame because we always come here every year for a nice treat.
Restaurant was quiet on our visit today. Waited ages to be served at the table and had to ask for staff to take the other. Watched another couple walk out without eating. When our order arrived it was missing things we had asked for - I asked twice more for the missing items and then gave up as ketchup we did not ask for was delivered. Food itself was nice. Again no waitress came and I had to find one to ask for the bill and in the end paid at the bar on my way out. I could see another couple also waiting a very long time and the attitude of the waitress was very poor. I don’t usually complain but it is a shame given your fish and chips are good that service was so poor. We skipped dessert due to the poor service.
I'd heard a lot about this place so thought I'd give it a try. Initially looked at the dine-in area but at £15 for fish & chips I decided against. The take-away was busy but service wasn't too slow and the chap who served us was pleasant with a little banter. I had a fish butty and chips. The chips were very bland and barely tasted of anything at all unfortunately. The chips from my local Park Road in Bingley are much better. The fish was very nice though, and the bread was nice and soft, so I think three stars overall is fair.
Used to come here quite often as it’s one of only a few chippies which are open Sunday and it used to be really quite good. Past few times the quality has really decreased and the most recent visit was just plain awful. Not sure what exactly has changed behind the scenes but we certainly won’t be visiting again which is such a shame.
Had two fish to take away this afternoon. Have always enjoyed the fish here on the occasions we visit Skipton but must say for the price today the fish was very small and overcooked. Very disappointed. Will be trying another fish shop on our visits in future. For the price paid we felt ripped off
After I bought my parents a fish and chip-themed afternoon tea, we all decided to go as a family. I went for good ol’ fish and chips, though I did swap half my chips for a side salad. My brother was excited about the availability of Irn Bru. Throw quick and friendly service into the mix, and all of us had a good time!
