Beware !! Big Peaks bike shop Ashburton, one to avoid. Last year I spent £732.15 supporting them as my LBS and they are a Bosch Dealer. My Bosch motor has developed an error and Bosch have confirmed it needs to go back. Bosch offered to pay for it to be removed £30.00 and put back (unknown cost), credited back to the shop. But no, the owner who is called Paul Tomlin , sent me a pompous email about bike shop policy and how I didn't buy the bike from them etc etc and wanted an extra £75.00 from me. He never complained about the £732.15 !! Nothing I hate more than two faced people !! I won't be spending any more money there, nor will I even consider them for my next ebike. I also will be sending said pompous email to Bosch, Trek, and KTM. What if I had moved to Devon from Scotland and needed warranty work, that is the whole point of a Dealer Network is it not ?

The staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular taking time to explain routes and check that the bikes were the right sizes for us. Their bikes were the best I've ever ridden, seemed to be worth several hundred or more. The terrain is hilly, I'd recommend heading to the moors rather than sticking mostly to the roads as we did. All accessories were provided within the price (helmet, puncture repair kit, pump).

So happy with these guys. We were touring around the moors and my gear lever went. They fitted me in for a repair within the hour which meant we could carry on our journey. Also, they served delicious coffee and were super friendly and helpful. Couldn't recommend a bike shop more! Thanks

Worth a visit I can't speak highly enough about this store and the staff. I have been really impressed by their manner. No up selling just genuine people not interested in ripping you off. Don't believe me? Walk into halfords and ask a few questions and then walk into big peaks and see the difference.. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. Nice large car park to try out bikes. Lovely coffee. Lots of stock. If you need an accessory or part they will probably have it. I have bought 4 bikes from them now and have no intention of going anywhere else. Certainly the place to go if you are new to cycling and don't know what you need or want

I recently purchased a pair of cycling shoes, cleats and pedals from Big Peaks. They advised me which shoes, cleats and pedals to buy. They then fitted cleats and pedals and said any problems to just come back. After a few weeks whilst cycling i could feel the screws that hold the cleats in place on the soles of my feet, which was extremely painful. So as they had suggested I returned to the shop. On my return to the shop, they checked the shoes and could see and feel that the screws were protruding too high. They did not have smaller screws so ground the screws down to overcome the problem. After having completed the repair the staff member who was very embarresed explained that the boss had said that he would have to charge me ten pounds. I was very shocked at this and replied "what when I purchased and had the shoes , cleats and pedals fitted by yourselves, and was advised by you, as what to buy." I had not been warned that this would be the case until after the repair had been completed. I feel that this was very greedy of the owner as the goods he sells and fits should not have any problems, and if they do due to no fault of my own, should have been repaired without any charge. Very poor service will not be using Big Peaks again.
