Best Western Royal George Hotel

A beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We spent the evening here with family we met from London. They were staying for the weekend, we were not as we live within taxi distance. Very old-school in atmosphere and service. But that's no bad thing and not meant to be a criticism. Extremely friendly, if slightly formal staff. Good selection of drinks available and the food we had was top notch. We had a wonderful time here and our family who stayed here for two days were all extremely pleased with their experience. This hotel is steeped in history and whilst probably not suited to younger groups (although I encourage them to give it ago, see what your might be missing!), I can heartily recommend it. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We have been going to this hotel for Sunday lunch every few months since 1996. It has always been an enjoyable experience, and the lunch has generally been very good. However today 4/02/2018 we attended for Sunday Lunch, and I was disappointed and surprised that a hotel of this standard could not supply me with an additional bread roll to go with my soup starter. Apparently there were no spare bread rolls would you believe, despite the fact that I would have offered to pay extra for one. In addition the roast potatoes that were served were cold and the one dish of vegetables as well were I felt not enough for three people. All in all I was not impressed ,and I did bring to the attention of the receptionist, who in my opinion did not seem to care less.

Extremely happy with hotel and staff. Most enjoyable stay. Would book again.

Staying just across the road and popped in for a drink, nice atmosphere and friendly staff

Only used the restaurant and bar but very friendly helpful staff. Welcoming bar and restaurant and nice food with good choice
