My wife and I stayed here the night before a family event also held at the hotel.nnWe both thought Henbury Lodge was excellent.nnThe house originally dates back to 1600 so there is a definite ‘period’ feel about the place. Our room was huge with a big brass antique bed and lovely old furniture - fabulous. The bathroom was renovated to modern standards and was very good. There was a safe, iron and ironing board, a hairdryer and even a fan heater obviously in recognition that old buildings can sometimes get chilly overnight but we didn’t need it despite chilly January weather.nnThe staff were lovely and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They were genuinely trying their best to make our stay comfortable which was appreciated.nnBreakfast was brought to our room at no extra charge and was excellent. The buffet at the event we attended was also very good and plentiful so if you’re planning an event please note this place is a great choice.nnFinally, I notice a few reviewers have described the hotel as ‘tired’ I think this is a bit harsh. What do they expect a beautiful building this old to look like? If they can’t appreciate its charms perhaps they might be happier in a modern chain hotel - there are plenty of them around whereas this place is a little more niche and all the better for it.nnWe will certainly be back next time we’re down this way again.
Bathroom is absolutely lovely shower great. Would have loved a shelf to put shampoo on as I struggle to bend. I've seen comments about dated furnishings, I would call them classic and appropriate to the style of the property. Loved the bed and table lamps room 4 Radio alarm a nice touchnNight porter overlooked that we had breakfast booked part of the BW special offer so we had to come back down to complete the formnDefinitely would stay here again though over and above an Ibis type , either side of a flight, if price was right
The hotel is situated close to a lot of things you might need, yet quiet at the same time.nnThe rooms are fairly big with updated bathrooms, however, the room itself is a little outdated and in need of renovation - the picture doesn’t quite capture this.nnThe upper floors are a little cold.
I thought that I taken a wrong turn and ended up back in London. £7.50p for a pint of larger. I don't know how the barmaid kept a straight face when she took payment. I don't pay that much in London. The menu was limited and there was a poor excuse for a pie. A pie isn't a tin with pie filling in it and a pastry crust on top. A pie is encased in pastry Very lazy. Nice rooms clean a bit tight when replenishing tea supply only leaving one normal tea bag. I wouldn't choose to stay here again but as my office book my rooms I might find myself there again.
I stayed at the Henbury whilst.on business in Bristol. I had a room in the main building and it was massive if a little quirky with the bath and toilet in separate rooms. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, unfortunately I arrived too late for the restaurant, and left too early to sample breakfast.nFortunately there's a nice pubnjust a couple of minutes walk away so I was able to done there.nIt was very quiet there with little or no traffic sounds to disturb me.nParking was tight but I managed to stop in the main car park. II would stay again if I'm working on the same area.
