Business stay over. Have stayed before and the rooms are tired looking. However the food is rather good and even though I asked for something slightly off menu it was not a problem and the meal was excellent. Nice breakfast to. My room was 'freezing' but the reception staff very quickly placed another heater in the room, very efficient and polite with it. I shall stay again as the location for myself is very good.

We have had a lovely weekend despite being snowed in ! The staff are friendly and helpful. Very clean hotel. Fresh breakfast and evening meals to a very good standard. Felt very well looked after. Thank you Gable staff 😁

A lovely evening meal with relatives staying at the hotel. They said that their room was lovely. But the meal we shared was lovely too. A great menu of posh, interesting food. Slightly more expensive than I'm used to perhaps but this is reflected in the quality. I had seabass - from the specials, it was very yummy, although relatively small portions (actually probably exactly the right size, not overfacing, another sign of good quality), but I did steel some of my children's chips - chunky, triple-fried, salted with rock salt! Followed by possibly the best sticky toffee pudding ever! Came with a lovely vanilla ice-cream (but they did make custard for one of our party!). However, the layout of the hotel is rather strange, a rather quirky architecture which is because it must be quite old now (but doesn't show signs of age except in the architecture - like internal steps - you just wouldn't do that now). This architecture makes the restaurant not quite seem to fit with the excellent food being served. But didn't detract from our experience - hence 5 stars!

This was fourth visit, very clean and well kept hotel with friendly helpful staff. The particular room we had looked very inviting, four poster etc. but had poor lighting and we found the bed uncomfortable. As the other stays had been problem free we didn't make a fuss and put up with it. Thought it just a one off. Will definitely stay again. Breakfast is excellent but thought the evening meal too portion controlled and the menu lacking in basic comfort food for a fat man.

Really enjoyed our stay, great accommodation, didn't eat there. On the A38 with few other amenities near by, but we drove into Bristol and had a night there and then went to Gloucester to the north so perfect spot to explore. Great Price Good Room. Free WIFi.
