Saw a great show by what happens when an ancient god lands on the streets of Tottenham! A new play by Pajoma/Collective - a new company of emerging Black & Asian, d/Deaf, Disabled & Neurodivergent creatives. Produced the charity, Arts Bridge https://www.arts-bridge.co.uk/pajomacollective
I was there for a mini festival that was nicely facilitated. Lots of stalls including selling Bajan Sweet Bread and Jamaican Jerk Pork. There was poerty, music, singing and dancing so fun was had by all. It was a family fun day with lots of input from the community and artists such as the Reggae Choir singing tune after tune and taking prople on trip down a reggae memory lane.
We saw Pegasus opera perform 3 operatic excerpts, including some items from their new opera Windrush. Fabulous soloists with the Liverpool Symphony orchestra. Very enjoyable evening. The Windrush exhibition was also interesting, depicting the historic black musical talents.
2 in 1 a work of ART. Part 1 very cozy, lot of space,s Another branch of the Bloomingscent, ‍cafe, with parking behind centre, wheel chair access, colour full surrounding, fully licensed bar and friendly staff an award-winning chef grape portion size good value for money.
Bernie grant was a very well recognised person in the community and this centre was opened to honour him. I was there because they were having conversation regarding Windrush. It was a very enjoyable evening. They have a well stocked bar and at the end of discussions we had singing from 2 lovers rock ladies. Janet Kay and Carol thompson.
Beautiful building and a lovely tribute to Bernie Grant, who was an important Member of Parliament originally from Guyana. When I visited, the center was closed but they helpfully advised me of Windrush celebrations which are planned for June 21-25 2022.
The BGAC is not doing what it was designed to give local artist and local people employment. They become an unaccountable organisation and the bullying tactic to sign an unfair rent increase with major contact change for April 2024. The have sent BAP Theatre who has been there over 10 years an eviction notice, because we have not agreed to: 1. One-month notice of increase of £120 then to £180. 2. Reduced contract term from 3yrs to 1yr 3. Add major contract terms reducing all our rights with no right to appeal. Stating we go find out what it means. BGAC practise Willie Lynch Speech by applying for funds in our name, then to forget about the local artist , only for an audience and give our funds to outside companies, like what they are doing for Windrush 2024.
This place is a great example of a lovely space. It's modern and a multidisciplinary centre.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Watched STEPPAZ put on a spectacular show !!! 5 's for them. First time attending the Bernie Grant Arts Centre. It's not clear how to get to the car park when driving as it has a different postcode to the actual centre. The seats in the theater are soooo poor! It feels so unstable. When people go up and down the stairs, you can feel the seats shaking.
A nice theatre with great rail access and location. Friendly staff, clean with comfortable seating and a cafe. No raised stage, so sit half way up to get a good view.Visited onWeekendWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYes
