Restaurant used to be alright but went for a meal the other night and it was dire. The prawn crackers were stale and cooked in bad oil, nothing tasted fresh, noodles were burnt, only thing that was remotely good was the fried duck and pancakes. Sadly I won't be back and the combination of high prices and bad food has a very negative effect on me.
Basic room, friendly staff. Food in restaurant mixed quality, duck lovely, fried dishes poor quality. Staff helpful and reduced bill for us. Comfortable bed, slept well. FYI room 8 has no toilet in ensuite, not an issue for us, shared toilet on same floor.
Stayed here for a wedding at the nearby Elm Tree. Single room was £40 for the night. Great value. Had all I’d expect and in good condition, though for anything more than a night and I’d have been a little more concerned. It was much like sleeping at my nans house as a kid. aka this place is stuck in the 90s. The floor in the room was particularly disgusting but everything else was pretty good!
Ordered a chicken curry, got home took a bite and it was rubbery… in further inspection it was pink in the middle. Rang them and agreed to take it back. We took all dishes back as we didn’t want to eat any of it incase so took it back. The lady dug into the curry with her hands on the bar and said it was cooked they sell hundreds so they are all fine. Yes sometimes this mistake happens but no customer service at all. She then rudely gave me £7.50 refund for the £26 we spent and left there. All in all I wouldn’t go back especially for the level of customer service. Since reading reviews on here I wish I’d never ordered anything. DISGUSTING! should be shut down.
I went to this restaurant for a meal with a friend early on in 2024. We both ordered a curry. One beef and one chicken. It was the worst curry we both had. There was no curry flavouring in the curry at all. The dish felt like it was the type where you add water to make up the curry. The rest of the food was ok just about but not good quality food at all. I've had a lot better in other Chinese restaurants. I deftinatly won't be going there again. I should have worked out there was something wrong when we were the only people in the restaurant. Other places to eat on the same night were full.
