We had a lunchtime meal for a ladies birthday afternoon, food was delicious and portion size great, lots of choice. Staff were impeccable. Atmosphere was really lovely. We sat outside first for a drink and then had our meal in the cube in the garden area. Highly recommend. This venue never disappoints
The Bear Hotel has a special charm. The staff is lovely especially Ben and the food is quite good we did not enjoy the Sunday roast, but other dishes in the Cube are lovely. Please change the brand of your Earl Grey tea! Place like yours needs better brand. Otherwise, we enjoy going back gor our family gatherings.
The rooms in the main part of the hotel may be an improvement, but the ones around the courtyard are much too near the glass surrounded restaurant for our liking. In the downstairs rooms you have to have your curtains closed or blind down all day for privacy; even in the upstairs rooms you need your windows closed unless you don't mind the background music and people's chattering voices.nnThe restaurant food was average for the prices charged. The bar staff are excellent and very friendly.nnBreakfast is over the road in a cafe. There's a cramped buffet with limited items, followed by a very good Welsh cooked breakfast, and accompanied by very good coffee. I wouldn't want to be veggie at this hotel, though. And it's not a peaceful breakfast experience, but it is extremely efficient.
Stayed here a few times, its always been lovely. Had lunch today, superb burger with home made relish, freshly made onion rings and hand cut chunky chips. The plate was left empty. Great atmosphere too and friendly service.
Went for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed their Leak, bacon and pancetta pie with peas and chips. As you can see the portion is absolutely monstrous. The pastry was on point and the pie itself was jam packed with plenty of tasty filling. The chips were fairly crispy too and went down well
