Upon arriving staff are very friendly and welcoming. They are eager to help with any queries you have and always have a smile on their faces. Very accommodating, the rooms are lovely and there is always a great atmosphere around the place. Service is great too.

It has been many years since I have stayed in a hotel that was so reminiscent of Fawlty Towers, but this seems to be it. We had stayed in this family run hotel many times before visiting family in the area. It was not top end, but it was friendly, knew its market and was solid. Beware being taken over by a "collective" (not collective i the way I know it). This outpost of "Town and country Collective" would have been farcical and funny if we had not just been looking for a reasonable place to stay (and had been in a larger conurbation where we could have decamped and laughed). Basil was replaced by Sybil.... Payment must be in full and in advance (even my 23 year old daughter saud that she had never had that expectation at the young persons hostels she was used to staying in), but more.... it appeared to be our fault that they had no record of the agreement about payment that was made when we phoned and booked (a sweet and generous noctegenarian was keen to make us their guests) and so they insisted on following their protocol in a bizarre broken record monologue that made for a delicate situation. It also appeared to be our fault they had not record of our address, despite never asking for it. The bar closed at 11pm (well actually at 10.40... because that was more convenient). So be it..... but actually they then closed the entire lounge area (i.e. locked it), so that my husband was shunted off to sit in a corridor to watch the rugby as he did not want to disturb my sleep by watching it in the room. If this were a £60 a night B&B, maybe I would understand. This place purports to be a hotel... Not in any terms I have known and i have worked and staying in many and on many continents. We have not yet made it to breakfast. Watch this space.
