The station has a cash point machine which is handy and a good amount of shops for a bus station. There is a card shop, a sweet shop, a fruit stall, a clothes repair sewing shop, a Greggs and WHSmiths but the WHSmiths is a total rip off. £1.99 for a Twix or Snickers and nearly £4 for a small can of ice coffee is ridiculous.nThe mens toilets are disgusting. An overpowering stench of urine hits you as soon as you enter. The seat had been ripped off on one of the sit down toilets.
It's easy to find which buses leave from which stands here with the large departure boards and the information point near to the travel centre. There's a Greggs and WHSmith here too which is handy. However, the toilets are often unclean and it can be quite chaotic in here with buses often leaving from the wrong bus stand. Apart from that, it is a decent bus station, but definitely not the best one that I've been to
Parked for 4hrs and just had a walk round, looking at old buildings, the museum, the art gallery, cathedral.... just walking avoiding busy areas, no cafe stop but there were lots around. All day parking also behind the bus station, 20p coin for bus station toilets
This was a great bus station for both arrival and departure, with a large area encompassing many bus platforms! Departure boards helped find the ones for each leg of my journey and signs also help navigate around, plenty of seating for waiting too. Hopping between buses was easy to do quickly and they are accessible, cleanliness left some to be desired though.
MINUS 4 STARS. The accessable toilets at this place are NOT accessable. Radar lock has been removed and replaced with a keypad. Trying to get access is neigh on impossible, asked cleaner she did nothing but complain about how it is not her job to let you use the toilet, she has all the station to clean, but she was stood talking to the guy in wh smiths when I found her. The normal toilets are out of order and the door at the side was locked,so no access there either. When is someone in charge here going to do something?
