We just wish we'd moved to Gilcrux when we had the chance..... This pub and glorious restaurant is one of the Lake District's fabulous finds. Andy's food is not the usual pub grub, but elevated with thoughtfulness  and is delicious, whilst Hal (landlord extraordinaire!?! Question mark just intended to keep him on his toes!!) keeps his real ale exceptionally well. The whole experience here is of a community pub which welcomes all with open arms. Love It!!

Lovely cosy place with very friendly landlords and nice atmosphere. The kind of place with a fire on the go, an old overweight dog in the corner and beer pump badges on the walls. We went on a Saturday evening hoping to be lucky and get a table... We failed. 
Went back on Sunday and it was empty so we enjoyed some of the fine ales on offer and had a meal. 
The veg curry and the mixed bean and chilly enchiladas were very good (although the only two veggie options on the menu). 
Overall was very pleasant and would highly recommend.
