Reviews
Good service, good car, happy travels.
Having booked from NZ were worried about timings, payments etc. But we found no issues, the car was ready for us even upgraded the model at no extra. Staff friendly and helpful.

After having read the reviews i was worried about what i would find! However when i did arrive, i found the staff to be very helpful and polite. The process is normally very fast and smooth and when i did have a problem the customer service team sorted out my problem. The cars are excellent and have never had a problem with any of them.

I used Avis a couple of times, because they *were* cheaper than the local (really reliable) Hertz -what a mistake! Firstly, yes the cars are 10 minutes away in the multi-storey, in the dark & you can spend 30minutes just trying to find the car! You can hardly see it anyway, so if there is damage they haven't told you about, you won't know until you've driven away and inspected in daylight - by then it's too late, as they expect you to tell them before you drive away. On my last hire, they suddenly increased the deposit from a 'fuel deposit' to £200 - no notice, no warning. 'We changed it last week', I was told. This makes them more expensive than Hertz. Their own staff told me they couldn't afford to hire from Avis and were asking me how expensive Hertz is!! The car wasn't clean, but I didn't really care too much. I *DID* care about the text and phone call 24hrs after returning the car (returned before it's 'due' time) telling me I *hadn't* returned it! So I was up for a charge for not returing the car and extra hire. 40 minutes trying to get through on the phone, only to get cut off TWICE. Then told 'don't worry, you won't be charged' and 'sometimes it takes 24hrs to register the car as returned'....what b*llocks! I demanded that they tell me there and then that a) the car was registered as returned and b) my deposit was being released. After cutting me off AGAIN, they rang back to tell me all was sorted. I returned the car at about 8am on sunday - it was finally registered as returned at 4.30pm on monday! I've decided to go back to the local Hertz - much more reliable, and now they are cheaper than Avis. That'll teach me to be a cheapskate!

Avis Brighton is evidently a scam masquerading as a car hire business.
Our car was returned in perfectly good condition (I did a walk around in broad daylight before returning it) and yet the amount my card has just been charged (over £1k) is more than double the rental agreement because of an alleged scratch on one of the doors.
Having been shown (a) no documentary evidence of said scratch; or (b) proof that it was scratched before we parked it in the Marina car park and returned the keys to the office - I cannot see how a business can legally go about operating in this way, in the UK, in the year 2014.
So much for consumer protection.

What an amazing customer service!. I called to Avis 10mins before their closing time, if I could still come and rent the car. I was late, but they were still waiting for me! Thank you guys! I will be back for shore :)
