I would rate zero if I could. They completely changed everything I told them, made their own assumptions to my situation, and in the letter i received following up a call they made up 3 different lies. For your own mental health I'd stay well away from this place, if you need support this isn't the place, they are just quick to get rid of you so they don't have to deal with any issues.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Absolutely appalling care from them. They discharged me without telling me, refused recommendations from GP and psychiatric liaison from A&E. Didn't have any of my notes from previous sessions and made me repeat everything all over again. Refusing to give me any support while I wait 3 months to see secondary care after waiting 6 months for them to refer me to secondary care. Complaint has been made to the health board against them. Every time I speak to them it makes my mental health worse.
I find them very helpful and look forward to seeing and hearing from them
Got referred here as I was in a bad place and needed help as couldn't sort it in my own. Numerous appointments were missed as my contact was like a wet weekend despite having him confirm in writing my appointments. Appointments would come a go with no phone call, no real apologies when chasing them up "oh I forgot". 6 months down the line all that was achieved was a reduction in one of my med how the hell do they think that can help. Phone appt mid January when it should have been 7th. On the back of a couple of good weeks to be told getting discharged back to gp and should I need their services again I would have to go through referral process again. HOW THE HELL CAN I BE DISCHARGED WHEN I'VE NOT BEEN TREATED AND AM NOW BACK TO SQUARE ONE. Feel lost angry and am not sure of what I'm going to do next.
I’ve had the same issues as Elle but for over 12 months, now I’m just not on there radar anymore, it’s like they want you to have a full break down !! Should be called the don’t care centre
I do have to agree with the poor service! No call backs no care given and made to feel worse after dealing with the team
Extremely poor, dysfunctional service which has declined significantly over recent years. Dangerously low staffing levels with little or no continuity of care. I feel that you would literally have to be dead before any intervention was willingly offered. As a former mental health nurse, not for this trust I may add, I find it an embarrassment!!!!!! Some of the staff are absolutely awful and unprofessional with narcissistic personality traits who appear to be purely on a “power trip”. They lack the most basic of communication / listening skills not to mention common sense. Some staff are excellent but unfortunately they appear to be becoming more and more “dwarfed” by some very dangerous, utterly incompetent individuals.Whoever is in charge needs to pull their finger out and get it sorted before it’s too late and I imagine it has been too late for some unfortunate souls!! An utter disgrace. Ps. This also applies to my most recent encounter with one member of staff fromthe home treatment team whom I had the “ great pleasure “ of meeting yesterday. The female support worker was lovely . However the so called qualified male nurse, I use the term nurse with great reservation, was utterly inept and damn right obnoxious. He was a prime example of someone being on a power trip” who lacked the most basic of communication skills and loved the sound of his own voice far too much. He may of been able to write a wonderful dissertation for his nursing degree but it certainly hasn’t helped him with the day to day skills he so desperately lacks when it comes to caring for people under mental health services. He wouldn’t last 5 mins on a psychi ward with an attitude like that!!!!!! I reiterate, the female support worker who accompanied him was lovely and possessed all the skills he so desperately lacked!!!!! Recruitment and retention is also a major issue at Aston House. Many staff off with stress. There was a time , fairly recently, where there was only one psychiatrist!! Although he was lovely in his manner, he was about as much use as a chocolate teapot and could barely be understood!!!! He was the sole psychiatrist for a long period of time! I feel sorry for SOME of the staff as they must be under a tremendous amount of pressure with very little resources. Too much emphasis on paperwork, meetings, courses etc, etc. Appear to be sending too many staff , mainly social workers for AMP training which in my opinion just adds to their already inflated egos. Not as many would be required if proper care was given in the community in the first place. Care in the community Is virtually nonexistent in my humble opinion. All of the above, coupled with virtually no acute beds and little capacity in the home treatment team,is a recipe for disaster and tragedy. HOWEVER, COMMON SENSE, COMMON COURTESY, EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS and a bit of empathy costs nothing. If you don’t possess the above then you shouldn’t be in the job!!! In which case you would only be left with a VERY small number of staff.
Very experienced staff don't hesitate to go there if you need mental health assistance
I don't want to even give 1 star as Aston house have discharged my son who has severe adhd, ODD, learning difficulties, dyslexia and anxiety, 16 yrs he had a psych who was great then bcos he becomes an adult is discharged from Aston house, they did the same to me in 2009 I have bipolar and they discharged me saying I was better......totally incompetent
Very nice place with compassionate care and the people are lovely who work there.
