Traditional Ashtanga Yoga Classes @ Finnieston Yoga Shala taught by KPJAYI authorized level 2 teacher Cathy Moran

Story

A flowing sequence of postures linking breath with movement.
Classes taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

MON/TUES/WED/THURS/FRI@ 6.30 - 8.30am MYSORE STYLE SELF PRACTISE.
(Arrive 6.30am onwards, to finish by 8.30am)

The traditional way to practise the Ashtanga form of Yoga.
In a mysore class the students work individually in a group setting, allowing them to work at their own pace, at a level suited to them. Rather than instructing from the front of the class, the teacher will walk around the room, giving individual verbal and hands-on adjustments where needed
Practised regularly, this system enables the student to progress step by step,
working safely and systematically through the ashtanga sequence.

TUES @ 6 pm ASHTANGA LED CLASS, HALF PRIMARY SERIES

PLEASE NOTE:
New Studio location below from 1st August 2017 - the current 10 weeks beginners course will still be at the movement studio until it ends.

I would highly recommend this practice to anybody. Cathy, Gemma and Rose are wonderful teachers. Attending morning practice sessions with Cathy has improved my focus, and strength. The studio and teachers are very welcoming. Ashtanga Yoga Glasgow is the perfect place to begin or deepen your yoga practice.
Cathy is a really experienced and patient teacher. Having been completely new to ashtanga yoga when I started 3 years ago, she's really helped me advance my practice, particularly when I definitely struggled! I started with beginners classes, including some workshops, then continued on to the half primary series classes. I now go regularly to morning mysore classes which I love and are a great way to advance your practice at your own pace and meet other lovely students!
What a find! When I realised I was on a business trip to Glasgow I reached out to Pamela Young to see if she was teaching Ashtanga. She recommended two studios and this was close to the university district where I was staying. I am so pleased I found it. Cathy's morning Mysore classes are just lovely. The studio is very cute, and tucked away, but it is a vibrant class of between 12 and 14 yogis. A wide range of abilities: some beginners, some of us doing the half-primary, and even two doing the second series. A friendly meditative atmosphere. Cathy's hands-on adjustments are gentle and super-useful as are her suggestions for ways into the poses that I cannot yet reach. There are also some non-Ashtanga classes. I tried Laura's flow class which was great fun too: a creative mixture of peak poses and gentle explorations. The only thing that perplexed me was the complete lack of men. I'm use to yoga being mostly women but in a room of 14 ashtangis I would expect two or three men. I went to five classes and was the only man in each of them. It's not an issue, if it mattered to me I would choose a different activity from yoga, but it seems sad that Glaswegian men have not twigged that yoga is for them too. If you live in or are visiting Glasgow make your way to the yellow building in The Hidden Lanes off Argyle Street and enjoy a great Mysore Ashtanga session with Cathy.
Traditional Mysore style yoga. Cathy is a very experienced, attentive, encouraging teacher. She pays close attention and gives brilliant adjustments and advice.
This studio is a gem and all teachers are truly amazing.
Glasgow is lucky to have Cathy bringing the Ashtanga discipline of yoga directly from the Mysore lineage of teachers... a lovely studio with a great energy and a rewarding practice every time!
Cathy is a wonderful teacher, her classes are always inspiring and would recommend her to anyone wanting to get in to yoga or people who are already experienced.
