I work near Asda and coming to ASDA wearing my uniform of the company and boots on. I'm in my mid 30s clearly NOT looking like a teen at all specially with my full face beard.nnI've came across difficulties getting a vape from a colleague Motiquer if I remember and spelled the name right. Male, not local and looking bit on older side. Works in the cigarette section in mornings.nnAs much as I understand and respect having a physical ID to get substances containing nicotine, in my case it is simple common sense and pretty evident I'm over the legal age. This has happened 2 times now and really funny coz he has served me vape few times before. I've shown him my uniform which was under the jacket and my ID on the phone but still arrogantly refused. When asked about the times he has served me before he told he might have been in a hurry at the time which is ironic. And he arrogantly said to complain anyone and he doesn't care. What an attitude.nnAgain as much as I understand the policy it is extremely important for ASDA to have capable people on the counter with common sense and knows customer service. The purpose of showing the ID should be well understood by the workers which is to abide by law but not to torture regular customers.nnI've seen once he started an argument with a lady because he's speaking ill mannered which was done the same way with me. I spoke to the supervisor but he told that's nothing he could do. My simple decision is never to go to any ASDA again.
Asda is probably on par with Tesco in terms of cost and quality. Not worth going out of your way for really.nnThere's a click and collect service, hot food counter and pharmacy in here. They have halal products and polite staff. You can use the self checkout or scan and go to avoid the queue.nnLack of trolleys.
Very rude and racist staff at self checkout :nnYesterday afternoon around 13:30, my brother and I were shopping at Asda. We were in a hurry and when we tried to pay at the self-checkout, the payment didn’t work even after trying two different cards and methods. Since there was no staff member available to assist us, we moved to another checkout and completed the payment there. The problem was that the first till was not working properly. I have also worked as an employee in a big store before, so I understand how these systems work.nnAfter I completed the payment at the second till, a male Asda staff member came and started speaking to us in a very rude manner. Instead of helping, he scolded us for not calling him and for paying at another checkout, even though there was no one around to assist us at the time. He spoke to us disrespectfully for several minutes i feel like the reacted in that way because we are immigrants and he is british.nAll the self-checkouts were empty around six tills, so I was not taking anyone’s time or breaking any rule, and there was no line behind me.nnWe apologised to him, but the way we were treated felt very unfair and uncomfortable. He spoke to us rudely for around three minutes just because he had to reset the till system.nnAs customers, we expect to be treated with respect. Staff should help customers when there is a problem, not shout at them. This experience was very disappointing.nnA big store means nothing if the staff don’t know how to treat customers with respect if i could i will rate 0 hope google map this option as well !!!
Thank you to Pearl for resolving my click and collect issue.nI have been shopping in this Asda for more than 7 years. Although some parts of late have gone down hill the long term staff still remain high quality. I want to say thank you to Pearl on the customer service desk for sorting out a problem I had with my click and collect order. Pearl went beyond to get my problem resolved, which I am very thankful for. Staff like Pearl and Timmy are a great asset to the store. Always well presented, well spoken, kind and considerate.nnThank you
Honestly I have been shopping here since it first opened and have always been happy. Tesco further down was so dark and the aisles were not great so always Asda! I was with my mother and we both went to the trolley self service. She was paying for her shopping on one till and me on the next till. I wanted to buy some Ibuprofen with my shopping and was asked for ID! Madness and the first time that has happened. Annoying and strange. My issue isn't that he wanted my ID it is the way he turned to face me and was right in my face before asking for ID. I said I don't carry ID for this. He just grabbed the Ibuprofen and went to approve my mother's. No sorry I can't sell it just shouted CHALLENGE 25 and walked off. As a supermarket worker I know challenge 25 challenge 18 challenge anything. Alcohol, cigarettes, blades etc. I also know it has to be physical ID and not on devices. I am aware not having ID means refusal of sale and I know I can't ask another member of staff to approve if the first says no. I know all that just don't be rude to me or have your face right up against me! I told the lady and the scan and shop but not as a complaint just more of a what the hell this has never happened. Explaining I know how these things work but I have NEVER been refused sale for Ibuprofen or Paracetamol she said take it as a compliment and you know all this and were not shouting as I know what customers can be like. She was nice. Him on the other hand, just rude. Service is hit and miss in Tesco but I might go there instead
