This place is great. I love the pool and there are many other wonderful amenities. I joined primarily due to the one person per lane rule, so it's not a struggle for space and you don't feel like you are in someone else's way while trying to swim. And the Turkish spa is a relaxing area to spend some time afterward. The staff is also really friendly and helpful. Some other reviewers are pushing for updates to the space, but the charm really is in the history of the establishment. They've been progressively making appropriate updates, more recently to changing rooms and shower areas - but while some things may seem old fashioned, I think it only adds to the experience.
Loved it. I visited the club during Glasgow Open Doors Festival. Timeless. Unique place for swimming experience and Turkish bath like things used to be. The club is established in 1870.
My favourite place in the world. No other Club compares. You really feel like part of something not just a number. Staff always lovely and everything always very clean.
Such lovely old building with lovely facilities. The Sunday Swim had such a relaxed atmosphere.
Brilliant place got to see it during Open Doors Day Weekend
I have been lucky enough to have membership throughout my childhood and now return with my own family. This members run club is tucked in the shadow of Glasgow University near Charing X , along with its extended family club the Western Baths on the West Side of the hill off Byres road. A haven for those who like a bit of family fun and games and also piece and quiet. It has all the usual attractions swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms, gyms, a bar.......... All chatty and social........ And then you have the Turkish baths. This serene space, a dome of concrete with coloured glass geometric shaped windows throwing ambient light. It has wooden benches and chairs and as the saloon style doors swing closed as you enter you realise this is a 'breathe out space'. Held at 110 degrees the joy of just sweating out the days qualms is not to be missed. Off to the side a glassed inner room 120degrees absolutely a place of zen. I love you can't tell which way is north in the Turkish, a bubble out of time Having talked about the zen - there is a lot of pool action, laps are swum at different paces, classes are underway for new swimmers, let's talk about the rings from shallow to deep end and two trapezes, great confidence builders for kids and adults, learning how to fly from one to the other across the pool and of course the huge hot baths at the side of the pool to go and soak in after the exertion. Always worth visiting on doors open day or applying for a visitors pass. Timeless
It has a great size pool but the down side is it is still very outdated whole building needs to be modenised remove the stupid rings an trappeze ropes and add some new facialtys like a jacuzie make it way less outdated bring it back to life help bring fresh life into the place as the current older customers are in there 60+ age group esp the sunday swim event as that has a mostly older customer base and the sunday naturest swim event needs more advertising to help breath new life in to the place and update and modenise the changing and shower facilaties they are still stuck in the 1800s
Visited with my daughter who is a member. We love the place, we will join when we move to the area. The main features are the pool and relaxation areas. The gym part is small compared to modern gyms. So if you are a gym beast this is not for you. But if it’s a community, a bit of exercise and relaxation then it’s perfect.
A Piece of heaven and wonderful part of Glasgows history. If your not a member you can have a visitor ticket
I've o my been here the one time and I loved it. I will definitely be back again. So much to do. Love the old Victorian setting with the old baths. The sauna and steam rooms are amazing. The assault course above the pool is great for the kids. Amazing how old and well preserved this place is. It might be a bit pricey compared to normal swimming pools but it is worth every penny just for it's history to say you've been in there.
