Went in yesterday for lunch with my mum, food was amazing and service was great. The steak was beautiful. I was in a car crash and requested a high backed chair if possible and the waiter I wish I knew his name ran about looking for one for me. I really appreciated this and it meant I could enjoy my lunch in less pain.
28/06/17 Graduation Meal, table of 9. We chose to book here as my girlfriend and I had frequented Arisaig around two and a half years ago, and always had fond memories. The place could not be more different now; abysmal communication the Graduation menu we had booked for was not offered as we had booked, we were told that this had to be pre-booked, despite this not being mentioned in three prior phone calls to the restaurantand lack of speed in service, drinks forgotten, cold plates, late check backs and slow in clearing table. We cancelled our dessert order to get out of there faster. Despite our vocal issues with the above items throughout service, no manager was forthcoming until we were settling the bill, and even then the man who appeared to be in charge was indifferent beyond knocking some money off the bill. This was an important family occasion which their negligence has tarnished, as staff were more interested in congregating around the bar to chat. This place used to be a definite 4 star, now there is no way I will ever give them any business again.
My wife and I headed into Merchant Square for a wander around. We are from Edinburgh so we were doing the tourist thing. I had a wee look at the lunch menu which looked great, so we decided to go back for lunch. I had Haggis fritters to start and followed it with Venison stew. It was beautiful. the meat was cooked perfectly, the venison just melted in the mouth. The portion size was very generous too as I hardly had room to pack in the Cranachan Ice Cream. My wife went for Haggis with Clapshot and also raved about her's too. £9.95 for two courses of this standard is frankly amazing value. I'll definitely be paying Arisaig another visit but this time I think dinner may be on the cards.
On 26.08.16, 4 of us had dinner. The service was abysmally slow and the meals were a great disappointment. The Cullen skink soup was not hot and did not taste very fishy and the smoked duck did not taste as though it had been smoked. The vegetable Wellington was filled with a purée of presumably vegetables instead of discrete identifiable pieces of vegetables. The pheasant was tough and was not hot and blood came out of the wood pigeon making the plate a bloody mess. Despite almost all of it being left on the plate and an adverse comment about the dish made to the waitress clearing it away, no maitre d' came to the table nor was there an adjustment to the bill. A carafe of white wine came to the table completely unchilled. The only positive was that the skinny fries were delicious .
Disappointed my partner had venison steak and it was as tough as old boots we told the waitress but no offer of reduction. Certainly won't recommend or be back far better value restaurants in Glasgow
3 of us had dinner here , we had heard it was great from other family members but it really wasn't so great . The restaurant was short staffed and the staff that were serving were walking about looking at the floor . It took the staff 30 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink which was absolutely ridiculous . It took them an hour to serve us our food and after that and extra half hour to give us the bill . The table next to us had boxes all over it so the place was a mess !!!! The manager came over and said she would give us a voucher and then after that she went outside with the chief to have a cigarette VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food is wonderful and you can tell that the ingredients are sourced for provenance. The venison and parma ham sourced in Lochaber melted in the mouth. The selection of whisky is wonderful and the Prometheus i had from the local glasgow distillery is incredible.
My daughter took me here on Sunday for Mother's Day we were both looking forward to it but sad to say it was a huge disappointment, we were not offered the Mother's Day menu, we waited at least 40 minutes for our starter and then another for main meal, we were told there was a free glass of Prosecco with our dinner had to ask twice for it. We waited for an hour for our dessert and when my daughter ordered cocktails after half an hour we had to remind them, now I could have understood if the place was busy but it wasn't staff stood around the bar chatting the whole experience was absolutely shocking and I won't be recommending the place, my daughter emailed them when she got home and they haven't had the decency to answer food was not great either by the way.
Great food, great service. Food was prepared promptly at a very high level. The whisky pairings are well thought out.
Terrible service had to wait 35mins for starter. Food was good. Then had to wait another 30mins for sweet. They need to train their staff to look after customers.
