staff are friendly, and there is plenty of various dry goods to buy here, but the condition of the reptiles here is abhorrent. caresheets on the website are greviously outdated 4ft enclosure for a 6-8ft boa, 3ft for a royal python and it can be kept on aspen, baby food for gargoyle geckos and beech chips for corn snakes, and leopard geckos/blue tongue skinks being able to be kept in groups is all outdated and awful care information. the care in the shops is somehow 30 times worse than their care sheets. giant african land snails crammed into 30x30 glass tanks, giant day geckos in tiny 2ft terrestrial tanks, bearded dragons in little enclosures with no enrichment and no hides, incorrect and unguarded UVBs, multiple tortoises per enclosure, invertebrates kept in miserable little cricket tubs, too much fruit in omnivore and herbivore diets, and some electronics on the shelf so old they are no longer able to be bought ANYWHERE else. pure vintage that. the small mammal cages are also TINY - a fully grown male syrian hamster in, again, something no bigger than a 30x30 glass tank. it's really sad that this is one of the only reptile shops in northumberland, because the care is absolutely shocking, and only those who have never worked with or owned a reptile before would give this care a pass. i could cry at the conditions that some of the animals are in here, as would any self respecting reptile enthusiast.
I took my two dogs to choose some of the natural treats that the store advertised. We were made welcome as soon as we walked in and the staff made a fuss of the dogs. The store was nicely set out and everything was clean and tidy. The animals looked happy and healthy and my two pups loved watching the birds. We left with a bag full of treats and some kind words from the owner. I will definitely be back and wish I’d found this gem sooner. Would highly recommend.
DO NOT BUY HERE! If you want your pets to live. Ignoring the fact that the workers completely ignored me, rushed me and didn’t allow me to change my mind over what rat I wanted. Not 1 not 2 but 3 rats I’ve got here had respitory infections. Tried to express my worries to a worker over the phone on day 2 of owning only to be told “to give him more time” which was obviously her trying to get rid of me as they have a 2 day return policy. Got 3 rats from here recently who had fur mites to add into my rat cage of 2 rats I’ve had for a year, they gave fur mites to my 2 older rats, and one died. I’m absolutely heartbroken and distraught. I rang the worker and he brushed me off and said “what do u want me to do about it”. One of my 3 new rats has a respitory affection I’ve paid 120 pound for treatment. And one of the older rats I’ve got from here had an ear infection on the first day, had a tumour and was inbred. Clearly a product of sketchy breading. The owner of this shop is going to reply to this with a comment about how they have “5 stars” but I actually don’t care. I’ve spent hundreds here and always wrote down my rats conditions to my care but after 5/9 of the rats I’ve gone here having health issues and dying before the age of 2 I’m done. The “5 star” reviews he speaks off were clearly wrote to early as if u asked me 6 months ago I’d also give 5 stars but not anymore. They are rude and cruel ignorant people who have caused me an enormous amount of pain.
They were absolutely brilliant from when I first messaged them, till we took the bearded dragon home. Member of staff was brilliant and answered all our questions we had. Couldn't of asked for anything more from them.
