An amazing family run shop, filled with every type of jewellery you could imagine. Bought a beautiful antique signet ring, and they helped with deep engraving. It looks fabulous. Well worth the trip.
Absolutely awful experience. I buzzed in, the older man asked me to abruptly shut the door, which I did and then he stopped talking to his clients and aggressively asked me what I was looking for which i replied ‘Erm just some older gold and’ Then he interrupted me going ‘WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR!’ So I timidly said again ‘ just some older gold and smallish stones…’ and I went to look at a cabinet inside to which he then almost shouted at me ‘the rings and things are outside. Go out there.’ The reason I came in was because there was no prices. The reason I didn’t go back in was the horrible treatment. I don’t know if I looked poor or too brown but this man did not want me in his shop spending my money
I'm compelled to write this review. I took my gold belcher bracelet with heart pendent for repair on 08/04/24 to solder the last link fully onto the end closure, so bracelet can be worn again. The older man father looked at my bracelet, quoted £30 stating to bring cash and said it'll be sent away for repair. I was surprised but ok with that. He got me to write my name & Tel number on carbon copy ticket, he scribbled £30 but the zero was questionable like a 5. Next day, he phoned saying bracelet was ready for collection. Went to collect bracelet today 15/04/24, son buzzed me in. Daughter was serving a seated customer, son serving another I believe and so the dad served me. Told him my name he didn't ask for ticket and he sought my bracelet. He removed the bracelet from the plastic bag and placed it on the counter, as did I with the ticket. He asked ME how much did he say it was to repair. Before I could say £30, he said £35 then proceeded to say it cost him more to fix?. I was looking at the length of the bracelet as something seemed off but he repeated again it cost him more to fix mumbling it should be £50 and that he doesn't know why HE said it was £35?. At this point I was retrieving the cash from my purse and he asked can I pay £50!! I was taken aback as I put the £30 on the counter, his son looked over at us, I was lost for words. Old man repeated it cost him more. I told him I will pay what he quoted on the ticket a dodgy written £30/£35 sum then searched my bag for the other tenner. When I handed it to him he said it's £50, I reminded him what he put on the ticket, then he asked if he could keep all the £40, repeating again it cost him more to fix and hell be at a loss. I looked at him and told him No! Feeling so uncomfortable at this point, aware the waiting customer behind me listening in, son too. Old man then took a fiver from his pocket and THREW it on the counter!! OMG, I was completly shocked & humiliated. Disgusting behaviour, so rude! I took my bracelet and fiver and politely told him Thank you, have a good day and left. To add further insult to injury, upon closer inspection of my bracelet once home, the side that was repaired has been poorly soldered not to mention THREE links short!!! The soldered heart now sits lop sided. I am fuming!! I went to that shop, as I had bought lovely pieces there in the 90s. NEVER again! Shame I didn't read the previous reviews before handing in my bracelet. If you value your humility, jewellery, money and time, go elsewhere. Old age is no excuse for rudeness and poor customer service, simple.
Bought a diamond and platinum wedding band here today. The most charming shop on the street. A no nonsense vibe and quality jewellery.
I'm crazy about the antique Edwardian/1920s daisy ring we found at this family jeweller's. They had plenty in stock, all subtly different, and this was the perfect specimen for me. It's more beautiful than I'd hoped for, and the price was very reasonable. Memorable, unique shop with no-pressure approach and free first re-sizing. I only wish there was a way to find out who wore my ring for its first 100 years! Definitely have a look in Ullmanns' window.
Recently I bought a wedding ring here for my partner and had a pleasant experience. We were quite particular with our budget and style of ring we were wanting to purchase and the store was happy to accommodate and offer advice. They were patient and helpful in trying to decide what was best and also to cater to our needs and what we liked! We made a slight amendment to the ring which was completed within a day or two and it looks very nice. Thanks.
Went in recently to sell an item of jewellery. Such a brilliant shop. Family run and it feels it! The family are so knowledgeable and friendly. I especially enjoyed talking to the father of the family who was attentive and funny. I had been feeing anxious about selling the item as it was sentimental but I enjoyed talking to him so much it was a pleasure and I went back in to sell something else a week later hopeful I would get to have another chat with him. Sadly he was a bit busy that day! They gave a good price, and understood the emotional side of selling personal belongings. I also bought a second hand gold chain from them which is great quality and I love it. Can't recommend enough. And on a non busy day you may even get a lovely chat!
I went to every vintage jewellery dealer in London looking for an engagement ring. I found the best selection and by far the best service and prices at Andrew Ullmann. If you're tired of smarmy salesmen, go to Andrew Ullmann a family shop where they really care you get the right thing, always treat you fairly, and don't pressure you.
I have recently purchased a 9ct gold half hunter watch and Albert chain from Ullmans. The service from this lovely long established jewellers was exemplary. The initial watch I chose was, after some consideration by me, not quite right so Max sourced another half hunter watch which was just what I wanted. There was no problem exchanging the watch and chain and, as I don’t live in London, the watch was posted to me after some minor adjustments were made free of charge. I made a purchase from Ullmans some years ago a signet ring for my son and had similar service then. I have full confidence in this business and would recommend it without hesitation.
Very good, I just went in there and dealt with the old man, and sold my jewellery :
