What a fantastic little pub. The landlady was lovely. We were singing till late into the night with two lovely gentleman and their guitar. Fabulous atmosphere really made our evening. It rained all day but it didn’t dampen our spirits when we sang old songs and made memories with lovely friends old and new.. Thank you.
Still open and Traditional with a capital 'T.' - Don't think they sell cocktails or proseccos. We paid cash, not sure if they take cards. Popped in when walking locally, staff friendly with a great canal side location.
Called in yesterday. It's a great traditional pub by the canal and its like walking into the past. I love it when pubs maintain a traditional look and standard, and I look forward to visiting again. The Wadworth 6X beer was excellent and the warm weather added to the marvelous experience. A great first visit and the start of many more. Great atmosphere and the locals are friendly, too. Perfect!
Great little pub just off the towpath. Very friendly publican and a welcoming fire.
Finally managed to catch this pub open, it was definitely worth the wait! What a little gem it is too! Pubs like this are right up my street, it’s quaint, quirky and totally traditional! The landlady was lovely! Had the cheese sandwich which is the only food she sells apart from bar snacks - it was nice, did the trick after walking from the church and along the canal. Had a very nice pint of Wadsworth 6X. I could have sat in the pub talking to the landlady all afternoon. It’s a totally comfortable and relaxing pub. Can’t wait to call back in again, especially now I’ve got the opening times off the landlady. I’ve already told all my friends about this pub!! x
Wonderful old pub... great atmosphere, perfect pint of 6x. A proper pub for a pint and a laugh with friends... and easy to moor up outside.... friendly landlady... what more could you want? Service: 5/5
This is an idyllic spot for rest and relaxation. The site owners are friendly and approachable, the site is well tended with plenty of room for five vans. The pub is exactly what it claims to be, a traditional canal side pub that retains is its appeal judging by the number of people that turn up on a weekend. This is our second visit here, there will be more. It ticks all our boxes.
Just called in for a drink and bite to eat. They only had cheese and hubby doesn't like cheese sandwiches so the owners offered him ham bought for their own tea! Can't get better service than that!. Very pleasant owners, excellent location by the Shropshire Union Canal and dog friendly. Oh and best larger and lime we've ever had.Service: 5/5
Lovely campsite at The Anchor Inn, next to the Shropshire Union canal. Stayed in our motorhome with friends. Peaceful and tranquil with beautiful walks along the towpath. Lovely landlady who always has time to chat...our second visit and we will definitely be back. Stunning location.Service: 5/5
This place is a blast from the past. The only other pub I have come across was in Cambridgeshire, which reminded me of my old doctors surgery from the fifties. Just basic furniture and good company, together with a really good pint and a welcoming landlady.
