We had a lovely lunch here today. Food was fantastic quality and staff really welcoming and helpful. The lunch menu is great value and I like that they have smaller dessert options available. Very well furnished and relaxing atmosphere. We were not rushed to place our order or for the table to be turned over quickly. We were able to relax with a drink first and courses were not rushed out onto the table. There's not many places we will stay for desserts/hot drinks afterwards but here we felt more than comfortable to spend the afternoon.
We are frequent visitors to The Anchor, and never had any issues with the food or the service. Last night, we were seated immediately after our arrival. We didn't have to wait at all to be greeted. There wasn't any fillet steak or burgers, which are usually my go-to dishes. However, the chicken burger was superb. The service was fast; our drinks arrived within a few minutes of us ordering them, and we didn't have to wait long for the food. The restaurant area always looks pristine, beautifully decorated, with the tables laid ready for guests. We have never had to look at dirty tables after diners vacate as the staff are quick to clear them. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and we are more than happy to book again. Parking: There is enough parking for the size of the building, and there's no charge. Wheelchair accessibility: The building has a ramp-access for wheelchair users, and there are no steps to access the toilet facilities.
Amazing service roast chicken dinner was absolutely amazing. Had trio of deserts too which was fabulous! Would highly recommend this pub/ restaurant and also lots of choice on a Sunday should you not fancy a roast. Parking: Plenty of parking but at peak times just get there early.
Nice pub with log fires burning and cosy layout but the staff weren't very attentive and service definitely wasn't with a smile. My food was ok belly pork roast, but my fiancée's beef was nice. The roast potatoes were tough and had probably been left standing for a long time. Not good enough for the money unfortunately £20 plus for a roast so we won't be returning in a hurry.
Soup was interesting but portion quite meagre on a shallow dish so it quickly lost heat. Tempura Prawn sandwich was quite pleasant but I would have preferred salad separate on plate instead of in sandwich. A quite modest portion of prawns too. Small portion option for some mains would be appreciated. Very pleasant clean room with a warm atmosphere. Good personable service. Thank you
Lovely place, food and service were excellent.Food: 5/5
Great location in Irby village. We went on a Friday evening for a meal with the family. The food was very good and the staff were helpful and polite. The tables are not crowded so you can have a relaxing meal. The Anchor is well furnished and kept clean. The car park isn't the largest, but we had no problem finding a space. Happy to recommend the Anchor to others.
Food is incredible , amazing service my favourite place on the Wirral, would highly recommend passion fruit martini, fillet steak and truffle cheese doughnuts, service is amazing will definitely be back!!! I’ve also tried the fish and chips which is equally amazing, really good quality foodFood: 5/5
Recently I arranged a reunion get together meal at the Anchor Inn, in Irby. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating despite our group's size. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and drinks. It was the perfect venue for us. We didn't feel rushed , instead felt able to relax in the restaurant. Special thanks to Pete and Georgia for their great service and patience. Dietary restrictions: The staff were on hand to reassure guest about food allergens. Parking: There is onside parking
Had a very late in the evening Christmas Turkey Roast tonight. Epic gravy which I’d have gladly drank out of the Chefs boot. Turkey was not overcooked or dry at all, which late in the day I was worried about. Scallop starter was excellent and desert on a similar level. We shall be returning on a regular basis!
