Firstly, Linda and Karen that work on the Alamo desk at Glasgow Airport are lovely. They were very friendly and helpful. That's were the good started and ended. On picking up the car the only information I got was the usual explanation of what they class as damage and of course they tried to sell me more insurance. As I had booked online I went with the information on there which was that the deposit of £300 would be paid back with 4 hours if the car was left back out of hours, which it was. Turns out it can be up to 5 days before getting my money back. This should of been explained. Not happy
Pretty rich of the staff. They're rude, abrasive and this company is a scam. Wasn't give the chance to properly look round the car before taking it. Then upon returning the car was randomly told the back wheel was damaged. The blonde girl went straight to the tyre. "almost like she knew". Ross was the manager on duty. I think he's pretty racist, it felt like we were targeted as we weren't white. He refused to listen to our concerns and just kept talking. I think they're running a con, making money on the side.
If I could give a 0 stars I would. I have never encountered such poor customer service and deceitful behaviour as our family received with this company. It comes as a total shock, as we have used the US Alamo car rental for years and years with excellent service. I will not go into the whole story but renter beware, they charged us 1 month after we returned home for repairs that we DID not cause. And they did not send any repair bills until multiple requests from us and our insurance company. I would recommend to everyone renting from this location to document and photo the entire vehicle including the rims and tyres. And lastly, I would have supplemental insurance or pay for the extra coverage.
Never go here again: A little damage to one tire which I wasn’t sure I caused it but could not proove I didn’t either was repared at a garage for the full 1500 pounds of my own risk! Ridiculous price but Alamo doesn’t care at all! Don’t go here!
When I picked the car up I asked about some chips on the windscreen and was told that "it doesn't matter as they are not on the drivers side". Upon returning the car I was told I was responsible for these pre-existing windscreen chips. Manager came out and inspected the windscreen and said they don't matter, this time because of the size of them. A completely different rule, possibly made up on the spot. Whatever. At least I'm not paying for your windscreen. An otherwise good experience ruined by the staff trying to squeeze me for damage that was already on the car.
Definitely the best car rental service that I ever experienced. It was minus 2 Celsius outside and snow covered all cars but our car exactly the same which I reserved was defrosted and ready to go! Ashley from car rental was waiting for us outside ! with keys in her hand, ready to explain everything. The same when we returned the car, quick and smooth process. I have experince with rent a cars in Europe and I'd like to be serviced everywhere the same like in Alamo in Glasgow. Good job!
We reserved a family vehicle with two car seats in advance. When we arrived we were told car seats were not available. We waited for about 30 minutes and two car seats were "found", however the attendant had no idea how they were supposed to be installed so thankfully my husband was able to figure it out. Unfortunately, both car seats were broken could not be hooked onto the universal anchors in the car. When replacements were eventually located, one of the seats was still missing the tether to anchor the carseat behind the seat. Needless to say we dealt with this for over two hours and there were no apologies for the delay and hassle or attempts by Alamo to reconcile the situation. Would not recommend reserving with this company.
Service from start to finish was fantastic in my opinion. No hidden fees and straight to the point. Big shoutout to Rory who served me on Saturday, very patient and attentive to every detail. Not had this type of customer service in years, very satisfied customer. 10/10.
Arrive at Glasgow airport hoping to collect our vehicle which was rented and paid for in advance. No vehicles available??!! Sat waiting for this supposed reputable car rental company to provide the car which we have rented and paid for. In the meanwhile we have been subjected to the worst customer service I have ever experienced. An Asian lady on the counter who was rude, defensive and utterly incompetent. She was accompanied by the young man who purported to be the manager yet was unwilling to talk to any customers and explain the situation, and there were others in the same position as us. An absolute shambles all round and clearly reserving a vehicle weeks in advance means nothing. Alamo seemingly want to sell out their vehicles and prioritize profits over customer service. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!
Trust the number of 1 star reviews. Avoid this company. I was told to pay for the toddlers seat, premium location fee, tax and the fee for extra one day that all was already paid online when booking.
