Having tried a slew of recommended burgers across the city, I can confidently say I have found the heavy weight challenger to the throne of best burger here. There is no better feeling than watching Chef Grant grill the juicy beef patty, laid with perfectly melting cheese, basted with his signature peri peri sauce and topped with a toasty bun. If you want to make claim of the best burger in London, it would be remiss not to have tried the Dirty Streaker.
Amazing burger - absolutely delicious. The service, although very friendly, was painfully slow as casual chit chat with other customers appeared to take priority. I'd recommend / go again myself, though be prepared to wait!
Dirty Streaker from African Volcano lived up to the considerable hype. Full of flavour and thoroughly delicious. If I had to be picky I'd say the bun was the weakest link. Absolutely worth trying. It'll be hard to try anything else knowing there is the safe and amazing burger option at this market.
Maltby street is packed with food, but I'll be honest and say I head here immediately, happy to walk past everything else. Awesome flavours and insanely good I'm told I grin like an idiot at first bite and that no one else stands a chance of one , cooked by Grant and a team who love what they do. We're spoilt for choice on BBQ in London, but it tends to be American. Good, but none of the heat or flavour, so for any one craving southern African spice, this is where you need to go.
It's a big burger, as you can see, and it's pricey. I'd say it was just okay - I liked that the meat was done a little on the rare side, but the cold bun they don't heat/toast it took away from it.
African Volcano is the place at Maltby Street Market to get your lunch, The dirty porker is out of this world, a generous helping of pulled pork, salad, pickle, your choice of hot sauce all in a brioche bun that has been sitting in the pork juices for 5 minutes....absolutely unreal!
We discovered the street market a few saturdays ago and have been there every saturday since. WE LOVE IT. I don't want to give away too much as it is fun to discover it yourself but what I will say is, food, atmosphere, and drink. YUM. You can spend a good couple of hours here. You should go this saturday.
Decent burger, not 4 stars. Good, but served cold. Service was great, but not worth the 30 min wait to eat.
The best food on an incredible street of food. Outstanding. And really nice people in Grant and Julie who run it. Lovely service and incredible food. It can not get better.
Incredible burger, amazing prawns and super friendly service. Couldn't recommend more!!!
