Didn't even want to give them one star. Closed my case after phoning me numerous times twice! I asked for my documents and was told they would have to order them as they had been sent to another department. When I threatened them with my mp, funnily enough they turned up in a cupboard. When I visited their office, people's cases were being discussed in public, others were left standing waiting not knowing what to do because the woman handing out tickets for the queue totally messed it up. Totally incompetent.
These people deal with the benifits all day with their jobs, so who better to go to? It was a life saver for me! I feel confident from my experience, to say the staff will do their jobs and ensure your benefit claims will get sorted out. It's hard to not get extremely down when your income disappears right before christmas but the staff are stuck in the system and are just doing their jobs. Some are better at their job than others. As in most workplaces. I received advice from one individual, Julie S, who was incredible. It's unbelievable how stressful and tiresome sorting out benefit claims can be. However, Julie went over and above, what I believe her job requires. I corresponded with Julie via emails on numerous occasions. She was happy to advise, reasure me and give thorough clear advice on what to do next. Also what I should expect, regarding how long I would wait for payments and step by step how my situation would be resolved. Julie also emailed me months after I'd initially visited the shop to inform me of upcoming benefit changes and what I should expect. I believe this email has potentially prevented another stressful visit to the shop. Big THANK YOU to all the staff, in particular Julie S.
Hi i would like to make a complaint with regards to a call i made today for advice about my claim for universal credit being closed in december and jan then receiving a letter that they had closed my claim today. i am covered by sick notes because i am awaiting a kidney stone operation so this should not be happening i was informed by someone over the phone at the advice shop to claim sickness benefit. i explained that this was a short term illness and universal credit was what i was informed to claim however explaining my hardship and having to go get food stamps today because of this i was put on hold by the person at the advice shop who told me i will be back as soon as possible. i would have been happy with a call back but was unhappy hanging on the line waiting for someone that was giving me information that would put me in further hardship by having to claim another benifit and waiting on the process. why was i put on hold with a i will be back as soon as possible ......
I was advised I was fit to work after my contributory based ESA assessment . I has waited almost 1 year for this assessment. I appealed to DWP who upheld the decision based on the Disability Assessor inaccurate assessment of my health and medications. I was extremely depressed and anxious as I had been told to look for a job /sign on for job seekers allowance despite having an ongoing "not fit to work note". The Job Centre told me I did not qualify for job seekers allowance. My GP had a welfare rights advisor , who directed me to Advice Shop. I appealled the ESA decision with the support of a welfare rights officer . He came with me to the Tribunal and I was successful . I was placed in the WRAC group , got back dated payment of ESA. However as my husband works I am disqualified from claiming any income based ESA. My welfare rights officer also advised I could apply for PIP I was unaware of this. Subsquently awared PIP for at standard rate for both mobility and daily living . I honestly do not think I could have done this without the tremendous support of WRO . I would have been totally overwhelmed facing the Tribunal Panel on my own. Every one I spoke to at the Advice shop was very supportive and wrote down information for me so I knew exactly what their advice was. and how my case would procede. They helped me complete forms that I would have struggled to complete on my own and I'm a former nurse practioner !!
Got help and support right . through my pip appeal from Maureen. She was both supportive and hard working. Can't thank her and her fellow workers for all there help.
Just wanted to post.!! To all the lovely people over the year's.! That have helped me.!! Ure all amazing.!! But there's a person who has calmed me down.!! Donna thank you So So much.!! Young lady.XX
I was given a wring advice twice, which made my situation more diffucult than it was. My mum's p60 and a letter from hmrc got lost .... my advisor name is Terry- avoid that person.
I received good support and advice from one of the team here. When all else wasn't going in my favour, I was treated with a level of sympathy and strength that helped me through
Bad Service. After phoning they told me to drop in, it looked that I have a case. After taking hours off work without pay I went to this place just to be told to speak to benefit department my self. Incompetent advicer. They didn't help at all and made me waste my time.
I couldn't thank the advice shop workers enough .they done an amazing job when I needed help . People don't appreciate those people go out their way to help .
