Not cheap, but the quality of food meant it was worth it, good service, hot and freshly cooked, not waiting around going cold. Good batter, light and crisp and proper chips, not frozen imitations. Add the decent hand pulled beers and you have a pretty perfect Whitby experience, even has a brilliant view of the Harbour. Better than that town centre place with the queues outside in our view, roomier and they made sure we party of ten could all sit together. Will return.

Really high quality fish and chips at a reasonable price for what you get. Four of us had lunch and had between us Scampi, Cod, Monkfish and a mixed platter. We all loved the food. Fish cooked beautifully, chips were great and came with a small mixed salad. A range of alcoholic drinks were available and there's a bar area. The toilets were smart and clean. Lovely views overlooking the Whitby quayside.

We visited Abbey Wharf when the scooter rally was on during Easter weekend, and the place was rammed - which is a good sign! We really wanted to eat here due to it being dog friendly but they couldn’t fit us in on Good Friday, but the front of house told us they’ll try to remember us and save a table for Saturday afternoon as they had no bookings left. We visited again on Saturday and the front of house instantly remembered us despite seeing thousands of other people flood through the busy doors all Friday and Saturday, and we managed to get a table right by the window overlooking the River Esk! The food was absolutely amazing and super speedy service with polite staff, despite being rushed off their feet. Will definitely be visiting again on our next trip to Whitby!

Nice atmosphere, nice location on the harbour, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff but peeved about two things. Firstly, the automatic 8% gratuity they add to the bill. I really hate restaurants that do this. It robs you of actually thanking the waitress yourself, and if you don't get good service, your still obliged to tip them. It's wrong on so many levels to demand gratitude from customers. Hardly customer focused, and certainly tells you something about the selfishness of the owner/manager who imposed this. Secondly, while we were in there on a quiet evening enjoying a relaxed meal away from the kids, another customer was permitted to bring in their dog. Not only is this completely unhygienic, but the thing was incessantly barking and the owner was not asked to remove it. This rather disturbed the quiet atmosphere we were trying to enjoy. On balance of the positives and negatives about this restaurant, I have to say the two negatives far outweigh the positives. I can visit other restaurants in the area, and even along the harbour that do not demand a gratuity, and that do not have barking dogs, but yet still have pleasant food and friendly staff. So I'm sad to say that I will not be visiting Abbey Wharf restaurant again, and I will discourage my friends and family from visiting (unless they don't mind the two grievances above mentioned).

Spacious, clean and friendly service. Good food, but not a vast choice, not outrageous priced drinks either. Excellent deserts. If you want an evening out to talk, then I would suggest you finish before 9pm, afterwards there is a DJ, the noise levels go up. Will certainly be going back, if only for a drink and desert :)
