Very relaxing, lovely views and good play area for kids. Toilets ok, but as the campers clean them throughout the day, they're only as clean as who is on the pitch. Contactless check in is good. The only downside for me was the owner and gis treatment of the group of girls on the pitch next to us, who got the blame for noise, when they tried to reason with them they were told to get off the site. When we tried to explain that they weren't as bad as he was saying, he told us we could go if we weren't happy. He eventually let them stay. He was very abrupt, aggressive and almost bullying toward the girls, shame as the site is in a lovely location. Bar staff miserable too but only need minimal interaction with them, so we would go back, if nowhere else available.
An absolutely dreadful camping experience in a beautiful area. The site was poorly maintained, with rubbish and waste everywhere. The bathroom and washing up facilities the green shack and container in pictures were diabolical and filthy and totally inadequate for the number of pitches that were occupied. When I tried to speak to the owner to share our concerns and give her the chance to respond or correct some of the issues, rather than just post a review later, she showed total and utter contempt for both my family and the other campers, who she referred to as "animals in the field". I was totally bewildered by her attitude, but she seemed to think that because she was apparently "up to her eyeballs" she was justified in treating us poorly as "if we wanted a better experience, we should have paid £120 a night for a room on the hotel instead". I'd like to say that these words have been embellished, but they are verbatim. Being up to the eyeballs must not include cleaning or glass collecting though at the same half empty beer glass and rubbish littered the children's play area from Friday to Sunday. The only positive I can give is the fact that the site is right next to a well marked and scenic walking route to horseshoe falls. In summary, if you want to spend a weekend in a dirty, unkempt site where the owner treats you like dirt for asking for basic things, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would suggest elsewhere.
Loved camping here , the views were beautiful . Clean and close showers and toilets. We would have loved to stay longer , unfortunately the site is only available 2 nights per week Fri/sat nights . Food at the pub finishes at 8pm
Dirty toilet's and showers, no lights on at night to see where you are walking, only one pot wash for such a large site, not looked after maintenance of the grass is shocking, bins overflowing, best bit nice park area for kids, on-site pub nice, staff unfriendly. Wouldn't stay again, stayed, jubilee weekend
Sloping site, quite scruffy with poor toilets and showers. They rely on campers to keep them clean, no cleaners were seen during our four night stay, old soap bars and shower gels left loitering in the cubicles. Noisy road with motorbikes constantly racing past from early morning, no lie ins here! Miserable confrontational owner spoilt our last night. Good location but won't be coming back.
If only I had read the reviews on trip advisor. I paid £40 for 2 nights camping. Got there the camping field, toilets and hotel were closed. I phoned the hotel to say we had arrived, I said hotel open as I'd specifically asked if the bar would be open, the reply was the hotel is closed. I then asked of the bar would be open Saturday to be told I don't know. These people had our contact number they should of called to say they were shut Friday and apparently open Saturday afternoon by which time we had left. They are now refusing to answer our emails asking for refund. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE they have no idea of customer service.
Basically just a field with a VERY OUTDATED pub and play area. Customer service is discusting the people who work in the pub havent a clue about the campsite and are very rude! There is nobody there to welcome you or check in or even ask questions god knows what you would do in a real emergency! Sorry i didnt look into the reviews a lot more as I ended up booking a pitch for two nights with electric and sharing with somebody else as the person we booked with was never seen or contacted us to check everything is ok.
Although being local ourselves we thought we'd book a weekend away to get away from the house. It's a well located campsite with two fields. The facilities closed due to covid need improving along with the general appearance of the place. We were placed on field 2 and to get there, you have to drive through the owners junk and storage area. The fields aren't all that flat but the pitches are well spaced. The bins we found were all locked so brought our waste away with us. Not a reflection on the site, but worth noting - Field 2 is situated directly next to a cattle farm and we were woken at about 5am to machinery noise and lots of mooing. Overall, I think the site is in a prime spot for campers and it has so much potential to rival the opposite Abbey Farm Campsite. But work needs doing to bring it up to a basic ideal.
Do not go. Had people doing drugs drinking and loud music next to us, we called the number provided for help and no answer and then texted still nothing. 5 complaint letters sent no reply to neither. Felt very unsafe If you want to feel safe on holiday, then avoid this campsite at all costs.
Lovely location, reasonably nice site. Hotel serves food which is ok. Very basic, no shop, nothing for kids apart from small play area but the big downer was the appalling toilets and showers and the lack of toilet paper. Would not use the site unless you have your own MH facilities
