Wow! Lorries, vans and cars in and out continuously. It's busy but efficiently run. My first time taking scrap metal was a pleasant, eye opener. Very pleased with the near £500 return
This is a mixed review. The positive is that I got a matched pair of used tyres with a good amount of tread for about half the price of a new pair. The negative is that the first time I took my car on a motorway afterwards it was vibrating so much that it was undriveable and, more importantly, unsafe at any speed over 60 mph. To their credit, they did not question my assertion that the wheels needs rebalancing but just did it, and I'm pleased to say that my car seems okay on the motorway now, but it should not have been necessary for me to return to get the wheels balanced properly. To make the experience even worse, shortly after I got home from the second visit, I noticed that one of the plastic wheel bolt covers had not been replaced. By the time I phoned, they had swept the floor and presumably thrown the wheel bolt cover in the bin. Again to their credit, one of the team went into the adjacent scrapyard and got three different wheel bolt covers for me to choose from, but unfortunately, when I returned for my third visit, none of them was a perfect match. So my summary is, the core offer is good - part-worn tyres for around half the price of new - but they need to take more care with the fitting services. One mistake is perhaps understandable - mistakes do happen - but two mistakes seems more like carelessness.
I wanted to leave a review for Matt forklift driver as apart from the reception guys he was brilliant/very helpful which is more than what i can say for the rude/ill mannered foriegn boys in the yard, with abit of luck they'll all get fired.
Good place to collect spares The staff are extremely friendly. They will help with removing of any spares you want, I had wonderful help
Wide selection of vehicles and reasonably priced parts. Some of the fork lift drivers who remove cars from racks can be a bit moody and it seems to be too much effort. Once or twice I've waited several minutes whilst they finish browsing on thier phones. Office staff helpful.
What a great place! As clean as a scrap yard could be, really well organised with very helpful staff, and very cheap prices. Take your tools you have to take the parts off the cars yourself, but they will help if you are stuck. They will lift the car you want down with a forklift and take it to a dissembling area for you and it's up to you really then, and they'll stay with you and put it back after. There is a separate tyre fitting section where practically new tyres are around £20 fitted. I wish I had known about this place years ago, I was so happy with my purchase, thank you
A1 Car Breakers is vast, with around 800 cars available for the harvesting of spares. Reception staff were quick to understand my requirements and to locate and deliver my item. A very slick operation.
Called before leaving as I needed a part for my van. They said they had some I could look at. Turned up to find they had on old van that was no good for my needs. Not there fault.but speaking with one of the yard chaps he said they did a clear out the other day not really helpful in my case, but maybe for someone else as they have plenty of scrap cars to salvage.
First time I'v been to a yard of this type in 50years..looking for bonnet for my Ka..staff very helpful lovely lady helped me walking across yard also forklift driver very kind oh & smiling face of chap in the office..exellence service..
