We had a great experience with the whole of the NHS system yesterday. Starting from our 111 call being picked up in less than a minute, to our first point of contact Ron Wilkinson, and then the rest of the departments we were in contact with. Thank you York Hospital.
It's been a long wait but understand how busy these amazing People are! There professional standards haven't dropped. They do such a wonderful Job! The Porters are a bit creepy, perving on some woman who are I'll but overall needed to wait!
Wow the eye clinic is a joke, phone lines never open on time my partners got a referral which between doctors and the hospital has been nearing 3 months! No closer to an appointment so you could imagine how he’s feeling. Answer the phone would be nice since over 79 calls and you answer 1-2 times over the last 3 months???
Where to start.. Ok so A&E, my grandma waited in A&E on her own for roughly 8 hours after having a stroke, she was taken in via the ambulance. This however counted for nothing - as far as I’m aware you need to act fast when it’s a stroke, there was nothing fast about York Hospital and she endured an 8 hour wait, failure to be prescribed antibiotics in time and later died due to their neglect. A few months have since passed and just recently my grandad got a kidney infection, we phoned 101 and they suggested to go to A&E Oh no! so again, my grandad was in there waiting 8 hours to be seen. They eventually see him and the Dr says it’s the “worst kidney infection he has ever seen” and that “he needs to drink more” sounds bad but fixable, did they bring him any drinks? No. Did we? Yes. Ok so not all bad surely.. the nurses then decide to move him at midnight, just as he’s going to sleep to a different ward and trap his catheter causing all the urine to block or go back into the body causing more damage than before. Good times are coming though, it’s time to leave! The dr says that a home nurse will be visiting in 48hrs just to check that the catheter is fitted ok and working properly. Did this nurse come? No, of course not. Did they ring? No. So of course we have to ring, its now been a week of phone calls trying to get through to somebody but every member of staff is off sick with Covid which is just a massive excuse in my opinion. Finally managed to get through to somebody and the nurse stated that it’s totally their fault and someone in the hospital put on his notes that he had been readmitted to hospital so they didn’t need to visit! What the hell is going on with this place seriously? I was going to say when you get to 70 they stop caring but to be quite honest, I don’t think they care about anybody at any age anymore. And, if this is the case - you’re all in the wrong job unfortunately, go into sales or work in that Karen’s Diner where it’s ok to treat people poorly. My advice to anybody having to go here, go elsewhere, go private if possible, go to Leeds. Scarborough, literally anywhere but here. As one reviewer said, you’re lucky to get out of here alive.
Amazing staff on the Labour Ward and the Postnatal Ward. Amazing care, dedication and warmth from all midwives, health workers, surgery staff, anaesthetists etc. Can only thank them from the bottom of my heart for the care they provided my husband and I and our newborn son.
Really really poor service, I'm aware of staffing problems but my wife has a serious brain condition plus blood pressure problem's. We attended A&E , she has been left nill by mouth for over 9 hours. Scans missed due to lack of staff . Left without anything to keep her fluids up . Left with barley any communication unless we chased it ourselves. Yes it's free kind of , we obviously pay but ya know !
Long post Alert!! Maternity Department: A shout out to pregnancy and labour/delivery team for their work!! At 1st I never knew there was an early preg unit which comes in action when there is a situation. Throughout the pregnancy I was monitored continously ex: doing US as early as 6 weeks to finding a HB at 8 weeks , detecting GD as early as 13 weeks and regularly following up with nick and alex, to always keeping a track for my bp before it turns to pre-eclampsia/GIH, thankfully my GIH was found at 37weeks. As soon as it was detected they admitted me in hospital to start with correct dose!! Also they always checked for pre-eclam thankfully I was free from it! Doctors and nurses from antenatal team!! Thanks! Labour and delivery team : As a regular visitor of triage and then labour team I am grateful to you. Midwifes and doctors you all are the unsung heroes. I could get up within few hours post a complicated Csec is all because of you all and then get discharged the next day post surgery is all your effortsJess being one of them! Even when no1 is allowed post visiting hours the midwifes were there in every ring to help me with baby to taking care of my baby to help me sleep for few hours! Post reaching home, I was started with next set of midwifes who monitored me and my baby till the time everything was ALL good to go… 25days I was under their care till completely discharged!! Whoever is planning or thinking whether to go to NHS or elsewhere, I would say it is the safest place you could be!! You would be heard and cared with a smile even when they work continously without the sign of tiredness. Thank you NHS
I have had a number of procedures since 2019 followed Bladder Cancer and can only say that the treatments I have had have been superb and the staff at all levels were excellent. Still more to come .
Not having had much experience of hospital care thankfully I can only commend to the highest level the staff both medical and ancilliary who treated my wife and myself with such courtesy and attentiveness after her fall.I can now personally fully understand the pressures on you people as the A & E section was like the aftermath of a major battle and all was calm and organised.I would like also to mention the ambulance crew I do not know which was their base but one of them was called Alex I can only say that I will continue to support the N.H.S. in any way I can but perhaps now with even more vehemence. Much Thanks Simon
All of the staff in SDEC EAU are incredible. We had to come on the 1st of feb in the afternoon/evening time and I have never met staff so compassionate and kind. They deserve so much more praise.
