Stayed here with a large group in 2 family rooms for one night after climbing Scafel Pike. Reasonable price and decent accommodation. Surrounded by enchanting countryside, lakes, rivers & forests. Average sized kitchen. Rooms with bunk beds and en suites. Communal toilets and showers reasonable. Definitely recommend it as alternative budget accommodation for a short scenic break in the Lake District.

Lovely little hostel in a great location. The family bedroom was really comfortable and clean. The breakfast was really good quality.

GREAT HOSTEL FOR WALKERS! My Dad and I were doing our first leg of the Coast to Coast walk when we decided to book a room here. Like a home from home, they were able to provide us with an evening meal, cooked breakfast and even a packed lunch for the next day. Facilities included a fully equipped kitchen, large drying room and a great living area. Rooms were great, really warm and perfect for a night or two, as well as being equipped with sink and showers. The staff were incredible. My dad and I arrived too late for the evening meal and because we didn't book a meal, we missed out. However, James who greeted us that night was sincerely apologetic and went out of his way to provide us with a hot meal for the night. He then went on to provide us with an endless expanse of knowledge about the area and the route we had planned for the next day. It's exactly what you should expect from a good youth hostel and I would highly recommend it to anyone walking in the area.

A nice and extraordinary experience in this remote hostel. We stayed two nights here, the staff and friendly and treating guests like a member of their family. The downside is since they are off-grid so they couldn’t provide any electric as you wish. No plugs are in the guestroom so be prepared to bring your own battery pack. But why bother charging your phone when your friends are all around?
