Friendly and professional little outfit; eye tests follow standard procedures. Julie, who works there, is a lovely lady. This company is older than my parents so I assume they've been doing something right.
I worked there for nearly 4 years and after going back from furlough the manager became a bully all because none of the walkden staff wanted to go back a month after we got furloughed. It bruised her ego. It caused me anxiety as she would be sat with a new younger member of staff and would be whispering to her. The atmosphere was toxic. There was also numerous other incidents. I put up with it for nearly a year and had to hand my notice in. 3 of her staff left because of her, and nothing was done about it. She has since sent messages on Instagram to my partner which was flirtatious trying to get him to leave me and get him to join her singles group. He was dumbfounded that she sent these messages, as there was a lot of other comments she put in the message. Not very professional for a manager.
I took my 3 year old in with the prescription for his first pair of glasses. He was a bit nervous about the whole thing, and reluctant to try on the different glasses. Absolutely first rate service from everyone in the store, but especially Paige, who really took a lot of time and creativity to make my son feel comfortable, and even good about wearing glasses. Would 100% recommend this store to others.
Very disappointed. Spent £595 on two pair of glasses. Chose and paid for 'best' focus but received the 'fine' focus, which is the cheapest version. This means that you have a very narrow range of focus. Only good for watching TV not for outdoors. I am having to order new lenses from specsavers. Would never go to Yates and Suddell ever again.
Awful opticians, would give 0 stars if I could. Woman at the desk was rude, dismissive and condescending to my partner who came in for an eye test. She was going to be a couple of minutes later and phoned ahead of time to no answer. When she arrived she was told she could not be seen, and that the phone did not work. That is YOUR problem Yates and Suddell - customers should not suffer because of your inability to ensure you have a functioning phone. Following this my partner asked a simple question and heard another woman in the back shouting dismissively about it too. Staff did not care at all that they were too incompetent to answer the phone, and were extremely rude the entire time. Just go elsewhere - even chains like specsavers are better than this place. Save your time and money.
At first I was a bit reluctant to have a very important and specific eye test done here because of the negative reviews, so I went stepped into the store with some degree of trepidation. But I'm happy to say I've experienced nothing but the best service and the highest courtesy from all the staff here. The lady at the front desk was really pleasant. The optician who conducted my eye tests was extremely courteous and professional, and clearly experienced. I have recommended Yates and Suddell at the Ellesmere Shopping Centre to my mother and I will be bringing her here for her eye tests in the future.
Went to my annual diabetic eye test only to be greeted by a sign on door saying masks must be worn! Wasted my time totally with their senseless discriminatory rules maybe they should inform you of these outdated rules before the appointments!
Very friendly and welcoming staff never been their before but will definitely be going back again and Pam the lady who helped us choose are frames was very helpful and couldn’t do enough
Have just tried to make an appointment. Spoke to Pam on the phone. Found her very rude. I will not be using this opticians again.
Very unprofessional! In 30 years of wearing glasses, I have never had any problems with my prescription...yet Y&S managed to get my glasses wrong multiple times. Had to return 4 times, was promised I would get another optician, only to get the same inexperienced man each time. After almost 18 months of dizziness and headaches, I went to another optician's and was informed that the prescription Y&S had given me was far too strong in one eye. Would advise everybody and anybody to avoid!
