I think you get what you pay for with gyms. In places looks tired, lots of equipment need attention but very adequate. Running machine's need repair as a lot slip and are dangerous same with rowers. Roof leaks and in winter freezing cold! This is apparently all in the pipeline so fingers crossed.
The gym itself is good. Nice staff. Good equipment. This being said their parking system is AWFUL! They have installed 'parking eye' which logs your registration when you park and if you don't enter your registration, every time you visit, then you get a £50 fine. They briefly told me on sign up that I had to do this but on my second and third time I forgot. Can you be sure that every time you go you wont forget to register you licence plate? In my opinion exercise for less is a scam that try and entice fines in a multitude of different ways. Just pay the little bit extra and go to a gym that isn't run by money grabbing crooks.
A top gym with great equipment and plenty of it. Helpful knowledgeable staff and friendly patrons. I usually use the free weights and mainly Kettlebells, however due to a small injury I gave myself for New Year, today I made use of the machines. Very easy to use with clear instruction; however if like me over 60 you may need your glasses to assist in reading them. That said, there is always someone to ask for help and guidance.
It’s a spacious, clean gym. The staff are friendly. There are options for every individual regarding memberships. I was home for a few months and found a rolling contract perfect for what I needed. The towns lesuire centre has many disappointing qualities regarding memberships, while Xercise4Less has many options that were flexible and affordable. I would definitely recommend!!
One or two machines been out of order to long. Also amenities in the changing rooms been out of order for a couple of weeks which is disapointing. Hope this is not the start of the gym being neglected, if so its back to Bannatyne
Avoid!!!!! As previous per reviews the car parking is a complete SCAM!! Aware of the fact that the Parking Eye was in operation, I ensured that everytime I entered the gym I registered my number plate. Next thing I know i have a debt collection agency chasing me for £170!!! I remain certain I didnt forget to ‘ignore the signage’ and entered my details in the tablet!!! Perhaps it didnt register correctly? Perhaps i didnt press enter?? Regardless i now have to contend with a £170 charge!! So much for a cost effective gym - don't be fooled, what you save in a membership you'll more than pay for in car parking fines. But it doesn't end there, seems I'm also now experiencing what other negative reviews have too - the company who handle the direct debit payments!! After deciding I don't need all this hassle, nor have the time for it when just wanting to go to the gym, i logged into the app and cancelled my membership. I then waited a month before cancelling my direct debit. The company - harlands - then say they have been unable to take payment for my cancelled membership and have added a £40 charge!!! For £210 i could have had a years membership at a gym elsewhere. Its becoming a very costly mistake. What a chuffing chew on!!
The worst managed gym I have EVER experienced. Don't be fooled by their 'FREE MEMBERSHIP' you'll end up in £200 worth of debt as I currently am, with pathetic excuses of managers coming and going you'll never get it dealt with. No direct line for head office or complaints and you wonder why they don't provide that? Because the service is absolutely disgusting!! Cannot express enough how much I DO NOT recommend this company. Complete scam and I'll be sure to spread to word!!!
They'll change your price for life without telling you. Then charge you £25 because it didn't come out. The charge you another £25 for cancelling the direct debit because you didn't want them taking out the first £25. Then they'll only help if you reinstate the direct debit. There's an equally good gym 200 metres down the road.
Don’t get me wrong the facilities are good but the car parking need sorting. Honestly telling me that a member should enter their reg every time they enter the gym for their car, not once and be done with it but every time you come to the gym! I dont know any gym I have ever been to do that you have to do this, forget once or in a hurry you get a parking fine on your door. 140 in one month it cost me going to the gym because I forgot to enter my reg into a machine twice. The excuse behind the counter was the reason this has been put in place was because people where using it as a free car park to go into town, so they come up with the bright idea of making their members suffer for it. Beauty management.
