For anyone who enjoys watching wildlife, or just getting out into nature, this WWT reserve is a haven. The bird hides can get busy, but you can always take a walk out onto the marsh where there is still plenty of wildlife to encounter. Today we walked from the reserve up onto Wardlaw and back, about a 3 hour round trip, including a break for tea at the cafe at Caerlaverock castle. Recommended!

Wetlands and lots of bird hides on the Solway estuary, feels like you're driving to Ireland! Cafe is good.

Good place for bird watching. Excellent facilities. But needs a little more for photographers.
