Surprisingly good store. Well stocked and clean.nShout out to the staff member on the self checkout tills who was really friendly and helpful
I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Morrisons in Dumfries, and unfortunately it was one of the worst supermarket visits I’ve had in a very long time. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but after multiple frustrating issues during a single visit, I feel it’s important to share my experience so others know what to expect.nnFrom the moment I walked into the store, the overall atmosphere felt chaotic and poorly managed. The entrance area was cluttered with trolleys and baskets that hadn’t been properly organised, which immediately gave the impression that the store was not being maintained to a reasonable standard. For a large supermarket that serves a busy community, I expected a far more organised and welcoming environment.nnAs I made my way through the aisles, things didn’t improve. Several shelves were either half empty or completely out of stock of basic items that most customers would expect to find without difficulty. It felt like the store hadn’t been properly restocked for some time. What made this even more frustrating was that many of the empty sections didn’t have any signs explaining shortages or when items would be available again.nnCleanliness was another major concern. Some aisles had debris on the floor, and certain areas looked like they hadn’t been properly tidied or checked for quite a while. In a grocery store where food safety and hygiene should be a top priority, this was particularly disappointing. It gave the impression that basic standards simply weren’t being maintained.nnThe layout of the store also seemed confusing and poorly organised. Items that should logically be grouped together were scattered across different aisles, which made shopping far more time-consuming than it needed to be. Instead of being able to quickly find what I needed, I found myself wandering around trying to locate everyday products.nnUnfortunately, the experience at the checkout was just as frustrating. There were very few tills open despite the store being quite busy, which resulted in long queues and a lot of visibly frustrated customers. People were waiting far longer than they should have had to for what should be a quick and routine checkout process. A supermarket of this size should be able to manage customer flow much more efficiently.nnWhen I finally reached the checkout, the interaction with staff felt rushed and uninterested. While I understand that retail work can be stressful and busy, basic customer service goes a long way in making shoppers feel welcome. In this case, the interaction felt cold and dismissive, which only added to the overall negative experience.nnAnother issue that stood out was the lack of staff available on the shop floor. When I needed help locating an item, it took quite a while to find someone to ask. When I eventually did, the assistance provided was minimal and didn’t really solve the issue. It felt like customer support simply wasn’t a priority.nnOverall, the entire visit left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Between the messy entrance area, poorly stocked shelves, questionable cleanliness, confusing layout, long checkout queues, and lack of helpful staff, the experience was far below what I would expect from a major supermarket chain.nnShopping for groceries should be a straightforward and relatively pleasant task, but this visit turned into an unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming experience. I genuinely hope management takes steps to address these issues because the store has the potential to be much better than what I experienced.nnAt the moment, however, I would seriously think twice before returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this location to others based on this visit.
Nice large Morrisons with handy petrol station. Confusing parking signs suggesting parking reserved for SP Energy but didn't clearly show which spaces and individual bays were not marked.
The store is always clean and well stocked. The staff are friendly and attentive. It is my preferred supermarket in Dumfries.
I like shopping at Morrisons and this one was nice and quiet, there is petrol station on site and Range is next door. We don't have Range where we live so Morrisons was a lucky find. Car park was big enough so there were plenty spaces. Shop is only 5 minutes away from the edge of town so getting back on the road is quick and easy.
